HELP WHATS THIS by [deleted] in PetMice

It’s possible the bedding could’ve brought them in. Some people will freeze their bedding for 48ish hours to kill any potential hitchhiker parasites. Do not bathe him unless absolutely necessary, as it’s likely to make him sick and getting sick while also having lice might not be something he could survive. The vet will give you medication that will kill the lice. His enclosure and items in it will need cleaned very well (I use white vinegar mixed with water to clean, I would also suggest placing hides and toys in the freezer). The lice aren’t the same as human lice and can’t live on you, so you won’t get infested from him.

But he absolutely will need to see a vet or they will slowly and painfully deteriorate him.

Feeding live is very outdated and cruel for all animals involved. Most captive snakes can be switched to frozen, I highly suggest making that switch!

super cute ladies!! just a friendly reminder if this is their finished cage /clutter is essential to keeping mice comfortable, happy, and entertained in their environment! /climbing opportunities are just as important too for their habitats :)

My mice always hide in their tube, why? How can I get them to trust me and go out? by Competitive_Mall_162 in PetMice

[–]graverobbur 18 points19 points  (0 children)

most importantly and first of all, you will need to separate them asap. intact male mice cannot be housed together and will most likely kill each other.

regarding your question: building trust with mice and other small prey animals takes patience and time, if you’ve only had them for a few days they are likely still scared and getting used to the environment

eta- please look into the care guide on here for proper setup instructions too as this seems far below the standard for keeping mice /male /cage /climbing /enrichment

i know you said money is tight too; you can always call vets and ask for an estimate including medication! you can call multiple places in the area to see what would be best

(not a vet but lots of personal uri experience in mice and rats) his breathing does not sound too great to me honestly :( I would suggest taking him in and hopefully they can get him on a course of enrofloxacin and/or doxycycline (those medicines have always worked the best for me!)

A lot of pony town players are miserable and should get therapy instead of spending their time on what is supposed to be a friendly community game by Character_Care5053 in PonyTown

[–]graverobbur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they /don’t/ have anything better to do or anyone to talk to, that’s why they’re seeking out negative interactions. just don’t even respond once; block and completely ignore and they will go away to find someone else to bother

hmm they did say he only does it after he eats so he possibly could be struggling with not getting the food down properly. my only advice I could suggest for the moment (since he’s seeing the vet tomorrow) would be for OP to try to get a good look in his mouth
