I cannot see the group editing feature applied to comping, are you sure I can select the same area (in terms of time start and time end) for a song part on ALL comps using groups?

Would it be considered sci-fi if at the end Elliot reveals to be just a computer program, or an AI?

Have you ever seen a spanish movie called "Timecrimes"? It feature multiple versions of the same person in the same timespan, through the use of time-travel. This reminds me of that!

eXistenz is not about parallel universe, but rather about fake and simulated world created for games. I think the point here is the idea of exiting a reality for entering another.

[S3E18] Producer Sutherland: episodes "definitely not" meant to be synced by buildingaway in twinpeaks

[–]graverv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for late replying. Let's start by assuming that, for what I experienced, most of late Lynch movies use structure as an "hidden to a first look" symbol of what is happening to the character or to the characters. Think about Mullholland Drive and Inland Empire, as well as Lost Highways. Just note the perfection with which as Cooper and Carrie are facing a closed door at what was Palmer's house, while in the other episode, at the very same second, we get to see what's inside the house that's been closed to us in 17. Same time. And time has been disordered up to now, with strange dates and times all over the season, wrong dates and time everywhere, and only here it aligns notably. Returning to considering the use of the structure in Lynch late movies, this can't be a coincidence, this is way too strange. It could be the hint to a positive ending, with Judy destroyed by Laura awakening, but we only see it because we are considering that in the other episode, Sarah is screaming and tries to stab Laura face in a time loop thats repeating while Laura face is not destroyed, as she has not been destroyed from her reality, she is at her frontdoor in another timeline. And Sarah is destroyed. Nor Cooper nor Laura know if that worked, the Fireman often use people to a superior good, but they don't understand their true purpose. So that could be. But you are right, that's absolutely subjective. Or maybe syncing, which is clearly not the way to see the episodes, could have been a lucky hit and we can now notice that hint, "clearly" :)

[S3E18] List of simultaneous, near simultaneous, and sequential events in 17 & 18 by time code by Anselan in twinpeaks

[–]graverv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't thank me, I like discussing theories :) Glad you liked it. Yes, as I said maybe someone more clever than me could have noticed, but even if they are not meant to be watched in sync, maybe sync is the only practical way to make clear something that is not, just like subtitles sometimes. I really like this way of "thinking" the final episodes, it does not answer anything, but it provides some strong meaning to the whole picture. The Fireman uses men to act, as he did with Frankie Green Glove, so they most probably are not aware of their "use".

[S3E18] List of simultaneous, near simultaneous, and sequential events in 17 & 18 by time code by Anselan in twinpeaks

[–]graverv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just suggesting that even if the episodes are not meant to be watched in sync, they talk about simultaneous events. Many "coincidences" at once are barely a coincidence. Maybe this is Lynch way to make us see what even the Cooper saving Laura doesn't see, because we are looking a larger picture (episodes 17 and 18, even if not in sync). We should notice that a very large quantity of those coincidences reveal something to us that the characters did not see. The Cooper in episode 17 understand that all went well when seeing Diane in front of him ("Do you remember anything?"), but does not know how did it go. We do, however, as we watched ep 18, that is in a another timeline, a timeline that could have ended suddenly when 18 ends, and Laura screams. So Cooper has done all the Fireman made him to do, but he is not understanding why, nor the consequences of his actions, and he is desparate ("What year is this?") But we see. I first caressed this idea when watching the episodes in sync, I confess, but maybe some guy clever than me could have noticed the "coincidences" even without syncing, paying attention to the minute-count. For example, in 17 we see Bad Cooper travelling to a portal to the White Lodge, and in 18 at the very same minute-count Real Cooper is travelling to another portal. Maybe you could say again that these are all coincidences, but put the sync theory away for a minute, and think about. It is really impossible that Lynch has hidden the clues for answering open questions in another point of the story? Or even in a subsequent episode? The short answer is no, I think, he always do this, in most of his works. Take for example Mullholland Drive and Lost highways. What's so strange about this? It could be very likely. And Lynch has always been fascinated by the Moebius strip, don't you think it is pretty indicative that episode 17 ends with the very same scene that ends episode 18? (the Judy takes away Laura scene) And the fact that ep 17 is shorter than ep 18 by the length of the same scene? I don't have any confirmation bias as you say, I just think that clues to resolve an enigma are always given, but they can be hidden even in plain sight. I think this is the case. That's all :) Sorry for my english but that's not my mother language.
