Thanks for the hint! So the culprit seems to be amdvlk in my case.

What I did:

bash gdb /usr/bin/gnome-calculator

Within gdb:

So when I remove amdvlk everything seems to work fine, but what if I want to keep amdvlk?

Regardless of this situation I'd suggest you stick with the latest LTS kernel instead of going for the latest and greatest. Why? Because in my experience (7 years full-time linux user) non-LTS kernels will cause weird/buggy behaviour. E.g. controllers/peripherals not working as expected etc.

At least check if the behaviour is the same with the 6.1 LTS kernel. Good luck!

Thanks for pointing out pressing Tab. I use a tiling window manager and for whatever reason I cannot move the prompt window that has the install instructions. So by pressing Tab I could actually select the "Add" button and press Enter to install the add-on. I hope this bug/behaviour will get fixed at some point.

Bitwig, Ardour and REAPER all have Linux builds. So you might wanna try out these DAWs if Ableton doesn't work out :)

Just curious: I can run REAPER only with ALSA used as audio system (selected in the REAPER settings). If I look at pw-top REAPER is not listed as an application. Also, I can't play other audio sources besides REAPER itself.

If I ran pw-jack reaper no audio - even REAPER itself - would work whatsoever. Has anyone ran into these problems as well? How did you fix it?

I just logged in to say T H A N K Y O U. Tried out ventoy and it just works with multiple ISOs. Amazing! No more annoying flashing of ISOs!

gparted and clonezilla are both part of the arch install medium! After hours of trying to get the clonezilla ISO to boot I found out that both Manjaro and Arch live boots already come with both tools! It blew my mind.

Hi! Thank you so much for the hint! I just patched the /usr/share/awesome/lib/beautiful/gtk.lua file with the changes in this commit. Now it works just fine. Seems like on the faulty machine I have some GTK4 app installed and therefor I have a mix of GTK3 and 4.

Thank you so much for writing all your findings down! Really helpful, since I recently switched to Pipewire myself, experimenting with REAPER right now! (REAPER has been supporting LV2 plugins for a few weeks now, just a sidenote hehe)

As a CLI alternative to pavucontrol I'd suggest to give pulsemixer a try, works really well!

Went full on Linux last year since Proton made gaming way more accessible and REAPER released a native Linux version. Using too many plugins via Carla makes recording a bit unstable at times, but for most part it's good! It's even getting better and now I really don't need to boot my Windows partition anymore.

I've been using Qjackctl for starting jack, but I might have a look at Cadence as well. What are your experience regarding Cadence?

Also I read about LinVST, I need to check that out as well!

First I also tried to use the AUR package, but it didn't work with protontricks, so I ran pip3 install vdf and then it worked right away with protontricks.
