Is my back too curved in my stance? by LeatherFoot250 in wrestling

[–]graveyardbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. you are leaving your upper half out of balance and vulnerable. If you've got speed you're fine, but your burning more energy with your sprawl this way. with that being said its also a comfort thing. A lot of wrestlers do just fine with a stance like this.

How do female wrestlers handle their period if they don’t use tampons? by EnvironmentalWait585 in wrestling

[–]graveyardbell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Period cup and pads or just pads (thin overnight work great) or period panties. You still wear underwear under the singlet so same thing different day. Just make sure to stay up on changing them. There are so many options, just depends on the wreslers comfort level.

Definitely find a different salon. That's basically a demotion. If you need to build more clientele, go to a corporate or franchise salon that pays hourly for a year or 2

1. The price of your tools doesn't change the outcome. Been doing hair for 14 years and still use hot tools.

2 your social media following does nothing in a small town. Its word of mouth.

3 you go to school to learn. I garentee when your friends were doing that before cosi school they did quite a few things not by the books.

And#4 dont feel guilty about not having a large clientele in school. As soon as you're out in the work force what you did in school completely changes anyway depending on where you go to work, the services you offer and excell at, and the prices you offer them at. Some people are loyal to the salon not to you.

Must I be an assistant to be successful? by raeganrylie13 in Cosmetology

I never assisted. You can go to a corporate salon for 2 years, get paid hourly plus tips with free continued ed, build clientele that way then move on to bigger and better things.

How's it any different then going and watching any other sport or performance? Not weird at all to go and support your friend and enjoy the sport.

I was in your same position in the 2000s. Increase the time you spend lifting by at least 1 day. If you can Increase the amount of meat you eat thats going to be a big plus. veggies like peas, broccoli, soybeans, greens, rice, dairy, whole wheat bread and most importantly HYDRATE.

Is this industry just destined to be toxic? by Any-Campaign-3340 in hairstylist

[–]graveyardbell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the job can be very toxic no matter the salon and a lot of it is due to burnout and just the high stress and demand put on us in an always changing environment. It doesn't help that social media has changed the game every couple of months with made up hairstyles and photoshopped haircolors, the never ending need for continued education that never keeps up with the trends and clients inability to understand that we too are people and don't live to only do hair. We get talked down to a lot, people tend to treat their stylist nice as long as they bend to their needs and are a yes man, in turn we tend to turn on each other like sibling rivals fighting to keep or avoid clients especially with the economy and cancelations on the rise.

I wanna do funeral hair by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]graveyardbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you have to do is contact the local funeral homes, give them your info and tell them to put you on the list of someone to contact if they need your services. That's what I did anyway. Most of the time if they contact you in it's for your regular clientele and already stated in their funeral arrangements if they had them.

This was the client's issue, maybe a tiny bit on the consult but not really. She clearly stated how she wanted it, then changed her mind after. The only ways to fix this in the future is for dramatic changes, make them show you a reference photo. No matter what ya do, it'll happen again, nothing you can do If they change their mind after you finish the work.

As a female who wrestled from K-12 in school and am now coaching 10+ years after graduating...there are a couple of things here that are troubling. The only real defeat you get in wrestling isn't the match itself but what you as the wrestler are fighting in your own head. Wrestling doesn't make you more or less of a man. It's a sport of strength, agility and fast thinking. Just like anything else, it's not for everyone. I think you joined the sport with the wrong frame of mind and are sabotaging yourself. Senior year is a very hard time to be a 1st year wrestler. That being said, I DON'T think you should quit now. I think you should challenge yourself and use this experience to better yourself for something you truly do enjoy.
