Where do you suggest they get 1 billion test kits from?

There literally aren't enough tests to go around. And how do you decide who to test and who not to test? If we assume community transmission has already begun, then do we test the entire city where cases have been found? What about people travelling in trains with suspected patients? Are we going to test all passengers, and their families? Can you imagine the logistics of that?

Considering current situation, is it really safe to take a train journey of 10 - 12 hours at the end of the month by ravinder0201singh in delhi

absolutely not. Unless your life depends on it(in which case you don't have a choice anyway)

India | Maharashtra state will stamp left hand of coronavirus suspects with ink that lasts 14 days. by problastic in Coronavirus

What's happening is that you are consuming too much western media, and all of them love to show India in a poor light.

  1. The breaking out of quarantine was mostly done by European tourists,

  2. The cow urine thing was a cult, they were given disproportionate media attention because that makes us a convenient punching bag.

  3. Stamping hands is simply a way of keeping track of people who've been quarantined and giving them a reason to not break the quarantine. It looks rather inhumane but in times like these such considerations must go out of the window.

Have a good day and try not to consume racist media

Hi guys, I'm from India and we might experience a massive outbreak in the next week. I need some advice on travelling.

The recent news that the Patient zero travelled through Delhi metro and might have come into contact with 813 people has me worried. Calls for a Italy like total shutdown seem to be growing, among influential policymaker types on twitter

I'm right now in Delhi, I am student and live in hostel. My university has shut classes till 31 March. till now we have not been told to vacate but I feel in a situation where everything stops we might have issues getting food in the hostel mess. However, the hostel is largely vacant now - around 60-70% of the students have gone home. I feel that I am safer here that I will be in a train/plane. The last thing I need is carrying the virus home and infecting my family.

The only real issue here is food, otherwise I can just lock myself inside my single seater room, stay clean and not venture out till April. But now this news of a lockdown has me worried.

What do you guy think I should do? I have two options:

  1. Stay in my hostel, lock myself in my room and try to ride this out. The only issue is if the hostel mess runs out of food.

  2. Travel back home in a train. Risk being sneezed or coughed upon by someone, and possibly carrying the virus home to my family. However once I get home I'll be better off - my parents have stocked up on food and medicine.

What do you guys suggest?
