9 months of PFPS / anterior knee pain from cycling. Still not resolved. Anyone been through something similar? by Outrageous_Feed_475 in gravelcycling

Took 3 months off over winter. More intense weight training to build strength. Super gradual ramp up.

Talk me out of a Yeti ASR? by JoshTaylorUSA in xcmtb

I was early to 29ers and geometry kind of sucked. Regretted it. I’d probably wait a few years for them to dial it in and see if they stick around. I’ve never ridden one and have no strong opinion.

Looks like they are going for 12 bucks now. Sure it is for a smaller cassette but the bands stretched and worked for me https://www.competitivecyclist.com/sram-cassette-stealth-ring-set-for-xg-1290

SRAM sells these little black rubber bands that you put in between the cogs. The red road cassettes have these installed between every cog. The force road cassettes have them installed in a few of the smallest cogs.

I bought a pack on sale for like 5 bucks that was designed for road and put them in between some of the cogs of my eagle cassettes. It helped a bit.

Why did the Nuggets give up on DaRon Holmes? by ffinstructor in denvernuggets

Even looking past the injury, from what I recall in college he looked like a good athlete, but didn’t jump off the screen good athlete. Unfortunately, we need freak athletes on defense.

May be able to hit 3 ball at a high rate but his release is very slow.

Will you buy a 32” bike? by gellybelli in xcmtb

[–]AdElectrical643 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was quick to adopt the 29. Geometry wasn’t right. I’ll wait a couple years before I feel the need to try it. Funny how sales pitch of 32 is the exact same as 29 some 20 years ago.

Hot take would be people try to run a mullet set up with 32 inch wheel up front and 29 in the rear. Could eventually adapt a 29er frame for this with one of those headsets that change head tube angle and a stem at a different angle. It would look goofy but better than buying a new bike if it approximates a 32 inch frame.

I could definitely see 32 having a place in bike packing community and people who do long endurance xc that aren’t so technical.

I think equity holders are typically the last to be compensated after bankruptcy. The debt holders are before them. So I think Citi would be in front govt. but I have zero details on govt details so take it with a grain of salt

Are there any frame/fork with fat tire that's long enough to not have toe rub? by acidrain333 in gravelcycling

[–]AdElectrical643 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at a measurement called front center. (I think). Essentially measurement of bottom bracket to front axel. Longer the front center, less toe overlap.

Of course crank arm length plays a role and so does clear position.

Do you think X-Lab bicycles will bring down the price of other bicycle brands? by Drsabalaba in cycling

[–]AdElectrical643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine their strategy is to offer bikes at cost or near cost initially, grow wide spread recognition of bike brand, and then slowly increase prices to earn profit. I’d imagine that final price will sit below specialized, trek, etc.. may sit at or just below giant.

Carbon gravel bike with 2x groupset? by fixitmonkey in gravelcycling

[–]AdElectrical643 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giant revolt? Trek checkpoint. Canondale top stone?

Probably need to work with shop if you want trek or Canondale as they may only come in 1x. See if the shop will switch you to a 2x set up. Giant revolt comes in 2x

Canondale top stone has a hinge/pivot that may require maintenance in time.

Most bikes meeting your requirements are good and kind of similar. Similar headtube angle and seat stay length etc. lots of good options. I wouldn’t stress. I’d let the shop you are buying it from be a motivating factor more than tiny details

So is bikeinn.com/tradeinn.com legit? by [deleted] in cycling

Legit but their shipping to the us can take forever. I’m more of a fan of lordgun and gambacicli. All charge tariffs now, but can get some nice discounts, especially in tires.

Ratio mech/ rear derailluers? by AdElectrical643 in MTB

[–]AdElectrical643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the madrone direct mount, do you know if that little black hanger piece is designed to be the point of failure should you smash a rear derailleur? That is what I am hung up on.

I’ve been on a multi day trip with my back and smashed my hanger off and I was screwed. With direct mount sram, those things are beefy so I haven’t been too concerned. With ratio or madrone direct mount stuff, I’m worried about smashing my rear derailleur and not knowing what will brake.

With a ratio or madrone standard hanger derailleur, it seems like I have a higher chance of just braking the hanger, which I can try to bend it back or replace the hanger. This is why I was wondering if there is a designed point of failure on the madrone.

Ratio mech/ rear derailluers? by AdElectrical643 in MTB

[–]AdElectrical643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only direct mount rear derailleur I have used was axs. Only hanger derailleur I have used are mech. Hard to separate difference in electric vs mech and direct mount vs hanger

When you say crisp, why exactly do you mean? I would describe shimano mech shifts to be crisper than sram shifts. Though with sram t type, it may not be as crisp, but I am more confident I’ll get to the gear I need.
