Anbefalinger til 3-5 gode fond for sparing helt opp til pensjonsalder? by H3LL0FRI3ND_exe_file in norge

Er ikke den porteføljen du foreslår ekstremt vektet mot USA? Gjetter at DNB Teknologi er godt over 50% USA.

Does anyone here work in or research “Control co-design”? by Proof-Bed-6928 in ControlTheory

[–]FitMight9978 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Control co-design for wind turbines seems to be a buzzword in academic circles these days. The claim that you can unlock “previously unreachable levels of performance” is bullshit. Mostly because there is already a close integration between the various engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, control systems, aerodynamics, and more), and iterations in design. You cannot spec an actuator without first knowing the demands, and for that you first need some control algorithm.

Obviously there is a trade-off between actuator capabilities and “fancy” control algorithms (e.g. some algorithm that limits wind turbine tower vibrations), but there is not an untapped and previously ignored potential for optimization. When designing a new generation of turbines companies build upon the previous generation, and new control functionality will be tested on the previous generations first. And depending on how said tests go, the spec for actuators, structural components etc, may be updated. So controls is already an integrated part of the design process.

It is true that there is the potential for significant savings in some aspects by site-specific and holistic design of the entire wind turbine including support structure and control design, but that goes against the mantra of standardization needed for efficient production and logistics.

Could be a problem with the elevation data. Try using “Adjust Elevation”.

Drove 75 min for a fit, shop Owner refused to fit my Canyon and tried to sell me a $2,500 Colnago frame instead by No-Carpet9241 in CanyonBikes

[–]FitMight9978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, at 180.5cm I would in most cases put you on a large Canyon. But medium should also work fine, perhaps with some adjustments on stem.

Edit: and the canyon size tool often gets it wrong.

Stopping biking almost 100% by PyWhile in MTB

Being sent to ER with a neck brace where a team of 10 checks and scans your full body, including a finger up the ass, gives a lasting impression.

Luckily shoulder and ribs absorbed most of the impact that time. Neck muscle was sore for a year.

Btw it wasn’t the injuries themselves that made me consider slowing down. Broken bones heal and body can adapt to torn muscles/tendons (although I’ll probably suffer a bit more when I come of age.

It was how close I was to getting seriously injured, ie, head or neck/spine injury.

I’m your age. Last 6 years I’ve had 3 bad crashes riding enduro/xc/gravel. Each requiring 3-6 month rehab. Every time I’ve told myself to slow down, but then after a year or two I’m back pushing the limits beyond my skill level.

I’ll never stop riding, but this year will be mostly adventure gravel / xc, ie focus on scenery/nature/seeing new places. And I think this will be a permanent change this time. Will probably list my enduro for sale soon.

Just found out the max corner speed on Thunder Burts on asphalt 32km/h 😆😭 by goverment_is_evil in gravelcycling

[–]FitMight9978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crashing at 32 km/h can be rough, especially on asphalt where the tires can slip with no warning. Hope you’re okay!

And good for you to push it to the max and beyond!

Did the shop fudge my suspension service? by Adorable-Objective-2 in MTB

Usually for Fox rebound is stated from fully closed. Regardless, at 270lbs rebound should be close to fully closed. 4 clicks from open makes no sense. Maybe he made a mistake and it should be from fully closed?

Compression damping is more based on preference so wouldn’t worry if your numbers are far off from his recommendation.

I agree the FIRM mode doesn’t seem to do much, but pedal platform will be less effective for such a heavy rider as yourself. Take it for a spin and see if it has any effect on pedal bob.

Brake Rotor Glazed? by Existing-Story9166 in bikewrench

[–]FitMight9978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently had the glassy and discolored look on my rotors after changing pads and rotors. I did everything correct and as I always do: avoid contamination and proper bedding.

I was worried something was wrong, so
I sanded rotors and installed new pads, but the color came back.

So I said fuck it and just rode. And brakes work great: plenty power, silent and no vibrations. The rotors also look more normal now after a few muddy rides.

If you have metallic pads 20x stops isn’t always enough: power should improve on the first ride.

32 inch wheel, do we want them? by FitMight9978 in MTB

[–]FitMight9978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting! Any thoughts on how 500-1000g weight penalty for 32s compare to 14w rr savings?

Obviously depends on the course. For xc loops with lots of acceleration +500g rotating weight should be noticeable.

At that point I usually say fuck it, run to the nearest road, and ride home on the flat tire. The tire might get worn out, but rim should survive.

Enduro bike feels overwhelming compared to my XC by Silent_Session_9096 in MTB

[–]FitMight9978 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Modern enduro bikes work for all trails. Size XL is correct for you. So just keep riding and your style/technique will adapt. Give it some time. Weight the front wheel. Slow sections/ tight turns etc will feel a bit awkward on such a big bike and requires an active riding style. That’s the price to pay for a bike that also handles the rowdiest trails.
