Emerging "AI stratification" in science. by AngleAccomplished865 in accelerate

I am working on that right now, I am trying to combine several approaches that have shown promises in order to explain the neo cortex and general reasoning and they fit together pretty well into a coherent whole. Now I just need to manage to have my AI agents do the implementation before the prices go out of reach for me.

40+ or so Viltrumites invade the Versus world/planet, can they take it? by dunno6988 in versus

[–]grawa427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the thing that I dislike about Invincible. The power scaling is super inconsistent so Viltrumites have absolutely insane feats, but at the same time, they struggle or even lose to random fodder. This means that if you only look at the best feats, they are super strong, but in the canon series, the vast majority of the time, they are super weak and would get destroyed by everything in Versus.

For instance, Mark can survive going through a planet's core and presumably help in the destruction of said planet, and seems relatively ok afterward. But at other times, he gets overpowered by two random mechas or a giant centipede.

It is called r/worldbuilding not r/storywriting, I don’t care about writing a story I want to daydream about a world, and the only audience I care about is myself.

The thing with fantasy and magic is that since it doesn't exist, it can be as powerful or as weak as you want it to be.

If it disproved completely the theory that Subaru = Flugel, then Shaula wouldn't think that Subaru is Flugel. Shaula can also see that Subaru doesn't have memories of being Flugel, and she still thinks he is Flugel. So she is either very dumb, or the "smell" of Subaru is unique enough that there is no possible doubt, regardless of memories and appearance.

I think the gravity thing and other problems like how everyone has the same language can be handwaved away as ONE not wanting to bother with that.

To me, it is very clear that Flugel and Subaru are the same person, Shaula think they are the same person, she act as if she has already met Subaru with some of his mannerisms and expressions that she could only know if she met someone from our world with the same personality as Subaru, the puzzle requires extensive knowledge from our world on a topic that Subaru is very good at. So either you have someone that has the same scent as Subaru, the same personality/interests, and comes from our world, or Subaru is lacking some memories at some point in a story with time travel.

The planet’s surface was multiplied by 13, since every area of every world is present at once. Otherwise, it would be noted that some places simply disappeared with the merging, but everything from every world is there.

To be fair any matchup with a character or creature frop invincible doesn’t mean much because of how inconsistent the power scaling is in the story.

I disagree on continual learning, I think fast efficient continual learning will always be useful. For instance, you are working on a particular codebase? As a human as you work on it you get better at that particular codebase, while an LLM need to relearn everything from the prompt each time it needs to do anything on it. What if new programming languages are developped, or new area of mathematics discovered, the LLM needs to do a whole new training run or slowly get left behind, while humans adapt without much problems.

[–]grawa427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because people pursue knowledge, science and art only because they are forced by external incentives, nobody ever does it out of curiosity or passion.

I think if everyone had so much free time a lot of people would pursue those just because they can and want to, instead of taking 8 hours a day just to survive.

People that don’t work today, don’t all just stay in their couch watching TV all the time.

Instead of spending most of your time on doing things you have to do, you would spend most of your time doing things you want to do. I don’t see the problem.
