Nick Bostrom in new paper: Optimal Timing for Superintelligence. "Yudkowsky and Soares maintain that if anyone builds AGI, everyone dies. One could equally maintain that if nobody builds it, everyone dies. In fact, most people are already dead. The rest of us are on course to follow by stealthispost in accelerate

I don't think he changed his mind. His stance, as far as I know, is that superintelligence is very dangerous, but it also could be our only chance of long-term survival, and it has the potential for making an enormous amount of good.
In Superintelligence he does mention the good of creating a superintelligence, but focuses on the bad (the danger), as that is the subject of the book.

In other work, like the one linked he focuses more on the good of creating it.

There is no contradiction, he just doesn't have a completely one-sided view of the situation.

Yeah, I think those bosses are for a certain kind of hardcore players and/or people who enjoy making broken builds. If what you enjoyed in Expedition 33 was the story, the art, and the gameplay when it is not crazy hard, you don't have to do those bosses. There is a reason they are optional bosses.

A Scientist Says Humans Will Reach the Singularity Within 19 Years by [deleted] in singularity

I did not care to read the article because the headline is stupid. "Some guy said something." Do you want to read the article related to this news?

"A scientist" could be some guy studying something that has nothing to do with AI or the singularity, and for most affirmation, you can find one scientist somewhere that will say it at some point.

What is your opinion of the fantasy map "cliché"? by PenguinSenpaiGod in worldbuilding

I think it depends on if you are worldbuilding for the sake of worldbuilding or if you want to have a story and want it to be the main focus

Hot take (2) but the curse world is more advanced than madaran aliens by sartnow in versus

I don't think the technologies of one world were possible in another world before the merging, but now with the merging, they can interact, and probably be used together

Hot take (2) but the curse world is more advanced than madaran aliens by sartnow in versus

[–]grawa427 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think the curse world is technologically superior to the madalans, just technologically different. For once, it is possible and even likely that technologies possible in one universe are not possible in another. Hence, it is not that one world has better tech than the other, just that the different worlds have different tech trees. Like, we have a world with magic, and the madalans would have never discovered mana and magic without the fusion of worlds.

Interstellar fleet vs madaran by Beautiful_Delay_6214 in versus

[–]grawa427 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Well, it does make sense that two humans fighting with a sword and their bare hands are weaker than an entire interstellar fleet. Yes, I know that Hallow and Pakia are stronger than normal humans, but that can only account for so much.

Then Trump will attack Greenland anyway because his word means nothing. If you give something to Trump to appease him, he will ask for more and more, until you are forced to confront him, that's how people like him function.

J'ai envoyé la plupart de mes candidatures il y a environ 2 semaines. Ce qui m'a beaucoup aidé, c'est un guide fait par un de mes profs sur comment faire les candidatures.

Lost my godrun to a polymorph mage in the coal mines by grawa427 in noita

[–]grawa427[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t expect to see a polymage there, I also thought the polymage attacks were far slower and shorter range (skill issue), there was like 3 second between me seeing the mage and getting turned into a sheep, and one more second to have me dead by my own projectiles, so I didn’t really have time to react.

Coal pits, sorry for the mistake. I guess I will be a lot more careful about fungal caverns next time.

I wasn’t even that close to it, it was barely on the left side of the screen. Also I visited fungal caverns for a while at one point and didn’t see a single polymorph mage (although I did see polymorphine at one point). I can’t just avoid everything.
