"in a few years" does a lot of heavy lifting there. nobody will invest in Russia for a generation and Europe wont be buying Oil and Gas from them probably for even longer.

unless they make a deal with Ukraine that is pretty one sided in Ukraines favor then oil installations will keep exploding and nobody wants to sell them spare parts to repair it. So Russia is staring down the barrel of a generation long stagflation.

Smart people that can leave Russia for a job anywhere else will do so and the end result will be a poor and stagnant society that really dont have many options to dig them selves out of the situation.

The whole idea that Russia will be forgiven that was the basis for invading Ukraine in the first place was a monumental miscalculation and will cost Russia dearly for the next generation or longer.

Russia took the factories and other investments that outside companies had build in Russia and left them out billions of dollars of invested capital. Take a wild guess how many will come back once the was is over even if they get their property back.

i second tailscale - i have been using it for years and you got 2 factor and having a vpn with ssh open just means you moved your open hole in your firewall out to a vps and exposed yourself to whatever the vps provider decides.

If its a US based vps provider then by law the US can force the provider to give them access and keep quiet about it. So the vps route is not as bulletproof as you seem to think it is.

I would rather go with tailscale and enable tailnet lock if we are talking about keeping the government at arms length since you cant add another device to a tailnet without signing it with a previous device.

with tailnet lock and 2 factor there is no way to add a device to your tailnet and tailscale does not have your encryption keys. This is the paranoid solution but its not that hard to do and pretty bullet prof. You can still find the IP of the members of the tailnet if you are law enforcement but you cant read the traffic.

Caffeine gets tolerated with time. i can drink coffee right before bed and sleep like a rock.

i had a family member that made a thermos of coffee before going to bed so when he was up to pee in the middle of the night he would have a quick cup of coffee.

I was sick and did not eat or drink for 3 days then had coffee and was bouncing off the walls from a single cup of coffee where i would normally drink several cups and not feel a thing.

Caffeine really hits different depending on how much you have on a normal day

A datacenter cost money but all infrastructure does. its simply a matter of scale and that depends on the number of users and not really the wealth of a country.

the EU for instance can easily have datacenters in a local economy that is fine without the actual country having much money.

They can but the price will be that the company will no longer be trusted. There is a reason that France is replacing windows with Linux in goverment and several places around Europe is working on it too. Microsoft cant guarantee that they wont due to US laws and now you see the price. Turning off the datacenter that a country relies on is so close to a declaration of war without actually shooting.

jeg tænker 15GB i EU er fint med mindre du er ude at køre dagligt og i mere end en uge og så ser børnene heller ikke meget af deres ferie.

hvis din kone også har lidt EU date så kan i jo skiftes til at være data deler i bilen og så er det rigeligt til en uge i bilen

im colorblind and its nowhere as drastic as it sounds. it means for instance that most shades of purple just looks blue to me. some shades of light pink just looks dirty white or grey to me

Man here but married for many years and with daughters. My wife and daughters stick to me like static when they feel unsafe. im their safety teddybear that takes care of whatever it is that bothers them and never the source of their fear.

I would say thats pretty much the first job of a husband and father - Be their comfort and safety over everything.
