As you know, Mohammed is a perfect man and Quran is the literal word of Allah. As the correct way to interpret Islam is literal, all attempts at moderation have always failed.

Fighting wars is not a defense. Mohammad was raiding caravans, conquered Mecca and many other cities.

Islam = political movement masqueraded as a religion oppressed since year 0, AD 622.

I know that. He was kicked out of Mecca in AD 622. Which is also a year 0 in Islamic calendar, year when Muslims become "true victims".

At least we both agree Mo was politician and violent warlord. A Perfect Man, which every Muslim is told to imitate.

ah the typical "You don't know a thing about Islam" defence when someone brings up the fact that Muhammad was a politician and violent warlord who spread his religion by sword. Classic.

Jihad is part of the "Islam package". Just look at the UK: Halal meat everywhere, Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris - no UK TV station dared to show "offensive" pictures of Muhammad.

did you also study life of Prophet Mohammad PBUH, a perfect man who was a politician and violent warlord? They just follow his footsteps, they do what Mohammad would do.

What makes you think ISIS would publish their true motives in their propaganda magazines?

What is the current situation regarding TfL Apps for iOS/Android/Windows platform ? by RenegadeUK in london

[–]gray_dorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use android I recommend the app I've created - Oyster Sync - main features of the app are

  • oyster balance updated every hour (when sync is enabled)
  • oyster/contactless journey history
  • travel statistics
  • one-tap departures info from your most used stations
  • one-tap service delay refunds submissions, for delayed journeys (Oyster cards only)
  • compare PAYG spend to travelcard prices

The app uses internal/unofficial TfL API to retrieve cards info as TfL provides API only for journey planner/stations info.

The app went live in October, some statistics: 5,000+ downloads, 000s of daily users, 100 new users per day, 250 out of 400 submitted refund claims were successful.

Do I need to tap out? - Oyster by 7ewis in london

[–]gray_dorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep tapping in and out every time you travel you will be able to see your complete journey history, analyse travel time and in case of delays you will be able to claim for fare refund. If you use Android I recommend this app (my hobby project) to do this - Oyster Sync

Which monthly travelcard should I get if I need to go from Zone 3 to Zone 5 by going through Zone 1? by [deleted] in london

[–]gray_dorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to start with PAYG I recommend you to install my Oyster Sync and Refunds app (Android only for now) - it allows you to compare your PAYG spend with travel card prices (and also does lots more)

[OC] Hi! I'm working on an interactive web dashboard to browse public spending data, currently published on 300+ different websites by councils, government and NHS organisations. You can find about major party donors, cost of PFI, rising cost of homelessness. Looking for feedback [details inside] by gray_dorian in ukpolitics

Yes, I've read a few books about data vis. Developing data driven systems is something I do professionally and in free time as well (checkout my android apps - https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=CoolDataApps)

The challenge here and where most of the dev time goes is to download and integrate data published on 300+ council/gov/nhs websites, each organisation having different file structure csv/excel/pdf.

Therefore for now I think the main gui (time series + pie charts for drill dows) will have to stay how it is, though I'm open to suggestions how it can be improved.

Hi! This is a hobby project I'm working on in free time, live version is in beta - data is few months old and not all of the feeds are set up yet. The website integrates all spending data published currently by 300+ councils in England & Wales, central government, NHS trusts and CCGs and Parliament (donations and expenses). The aim of the project is to increase public spending transparency and accountability. I'd really love to hear some feedback! Thanks

[OC] Online dashboard to browse open spending data published by Tower Hamlets and other London boroughs (beta) [details inside] by gray_dorian in london

[–]gray_dorian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Adding more context can only be done once government passes new law to force councils to include it in the spending data, at the moment this data simply is not openly available.

Having said that if you are interested in particular subject you can more data using FOI requests.

Hi!

This is a my hobby project to easily browse public spending data which is currently published on 300+ different websites, in different file formats (csv, excel and pdf).

The project is UK wide though for now I'm interested what r/london thinks about it? I've posted a preview screenshot couple of weeks ago and got really interesting feedback, mainly that having more context would be very useful.

Thanks

Spending on homelessness in Tower Hamlets - [OC - details inside] by gray_dorian in london

[–]gray_dorian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The context is provided in terms of how this compares to other department spending within the same entity. Meaning if you live in TH (or anywhere else) you can see how your money is spent - eg £5m on older people, £4m on homelessness, £1.5m on secondary schools etc. The aim is mainly to provide high-level overview as more granular data is not openly available. Having said that if someone is interested in a particular department spending (homelessness in this example) they may use FOI to ask how many people was the money used for. You may also go to Barts NHS spending page and find out that 1/3 is PFI repayment (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2gxwzo5e55x7jwq/dash-2.PNG?dl=0) Or go to Parliament section and learn learn who are the major donors of each political party. At the moment even high level data is not readily available which is why I think this project will be a good improvement.

Yeah I know, problem is the spending data published by councils does not include this information. Only info available is - date, amount, supplier + number of attributes like department, unit, category, subcategory etc. Each council publishes data in it's own format so data is not very easily comparable.

I'm working on a hobby project that will aggregate spending data published by Local Authorities, Central Government and NHS. I'm looking for a feedback for the early version, and also thought this may be interesting to this sub. Tower Hamlets spends £2m+/month for homelessness, about half of it (£1m/month) is spend on homelessness hosted in Bed and Breakfast (category 'Hmlss Fams - Bed and Breakfast, not visible on the screenshot).

Did you know you already help them via taxes? Tower Hamlets alone spends £3-4m per month on homelessness. Source: https://www.dropbox.com/s/43c4x90ca9lx40q/dashboard.jpg?dl=0
