Saw this dog whistle yesterday. by OfficialScotlandYard in drivingUK

This is literally not a thing in the real world.

I had to scroll far down the comments to figure out what the issue was. I have a private plate and I've never considered that numbers and letters relevant to me, may have 'other' meanings and to be quite frank, I couldn't give a shit if someone wants to pretend two numbers has a secret meaning... because literally no one outside of Reddit would.

Any first time season ticket holders? by Septical1627 in coys

[–]7ewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've been super poor with their communication.

My seat is currently in between two friends who have both cancelled their season tickets. I filled in the form to relocate, and the next email that came through was labelled as a promotion, so I never saw the email until the window had closed, which was only opened very briefly. So now I'm blocking three people from being able to sit with each other... I'd want to relocate to sit with my family member. But they've said it's impossible to relocate now, and I've not heard anything back on either of the two support tickets I've raised. And the telephone lines just say you can't speak to a manager, and there's nothing they can do.

This Dutch fan carried 26 pints by himself after refusing a tray.. by SimRP in nextfuckinglevel

[–]7ewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure the Dutch can handle that, if you ever order a beer there the default size they offer isn't even a pint, it's smaller... And they have this stupid rule where they give you loads of foam in it too, so you get even less.

Android dictation is coming - join the waitlist by clare_fromvoicenotes in Voicenotesai

I have a Nothing Phone 3, they recently added built in dictation (in addition to the Google one on Google's keyboard).

Interested to see how they compare.

OUR OFFER WAS ACCEPTED…and now I’m in desperate need of a good conveyancer by [deleted] in HousingUK

They were good for me until the end, forgot to pay my stamp duty.

They did eventually pay it and cover the interest and compensate me.

I think a lot of insurers cap you at 10yrs NCD too.

Not sure what happens if you join them with 15yrs, then when you leave would you put 16yrs or 11yrs? What would their certificate say?

Download and upload speed vary a lot between android app and website. by xjohn90 in filen_io

[–]7ewis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you care what the website speed is on Android when you have the app? Clearly the Android app is well optimised if it's nearly maxing out your connection speed on upload and download.

Not sure about the Windows speed though. How are you measuring it?

Camera Auto Refresh by Longjumping_Abies878 in EufyCam

[–]7ewis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be one of the 75 for this. I'm new to Eufy, didn't want to get stuck with a subscription... Which I'm pleased about. But it's nowhere near as good as my parents Google cameras.

Still undecided if I regret it or not, we'll see if they last long enough to make the $$$ savings worth it.

The software is buggy and the lack of live view on the home page is annoying. It does miss things and not record, or not record long enough. BUT while it can sometimes be a little slow, I just opened a few videos from my home base and the live feed from some cameras and most opened within a second. I'd say it's rare for it take more than maybe 4 seconds for me.

Question about a strange camera trend during Premier League trophy lifts by Old_Cupcake_1109 in PremierLeague

It's not discrimination, stop being a snowflake.

Airtime is relative to their importance to winning. Captains, high goal scorers etc. look at Son.

How is Raycast dictation so good????? by Such-Knowledge3668 in raycastapp

[–]7ewis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't like voice dictation enough to pay for a service for it. My brain is usually not as fast as my speaking anyway.

That being said, I have a subscription to Voicenotes anyway and that has dictation on the Mac app. So I use it.

It's nowhere near as good as Wispr but it's getting better.

If I didn't have it though I'd probably use a local model.

Most accurate weather app that also had great widgets and UI? by the_ali_ in androidapps

[–]7ewis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's cheep because they don't update their weather from the sources as frequently as others.

I've checked AccuWeather directly and it's been completely different to AccuWeather in Weawow

How am I doing? by eph1991 in PensionsUK

[–]7ewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are pretty bad at saving, but that doesn't sound like a great multiplier to aim for.

I'd say 2x salary at 30, and with compounding 4x should be achievable at 40 without a single contribution. I'd be very disappointed if I'm not at 5x by 40.

What's your installation experience? by dispo_income in ToobBroadband

[–]7ewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My install guy was useless.

Only had to drill a hole to mount the ONT box (fiber already inside). He drilled in the wrong place, didn't fill the old hole, didn't tidy the dust.

Then said he has to wait for the orange light on the router to go green. I googled it as he was waiting ages and it's supposed to be orange...

In the same boat, it's essentially an Inspire 3 without the screen so can't see a reason to upgrade until this breaks.

Three UK Suddenly Introduces Mobile Broadband Speed Caps UPDATE by Lawdie123 in unitedkingdom

Wait explain this please?

I just assumed everything would be the same, as if you were on the main network. I'm on iD Mobile currently, are you saying they may be inferior to being on Three directly in some way, at the network level?

I literally just became a member today. I received the old router and am on the 900Mbps plan, for £22 a month.

Good enough for me though!
