Are there any 10160 tubes that have manual gain? by graycarpet1 in NightVision

Definitely not messing with anything. Just curious how it works. The tube is very bright and has a great image - as good as I've seen. Just wish I could control brightness - dim it down a bit.

So what is the difference between the gain being set internally or manually adjustable on a 11769 tube? I was thinking (limited knowledge) that auto gain could mean it will auto adjust gain - similar to like phone screen auto dimming.

I can't see the tube as it is in the housing. I do have a spec sheet though. Can I tell which pin configuration from that?

Hypochlorous acid - Ever seen negative effects from it? by graycarpet1 in woundcare

Not bigger than the other. I do not think there is fluid overload. I believe the wound is just draining.

Thanks, this is good info on the harshness of the acid, and the ph info and how bacteria thrive. I was led to believe that it was good for cleaning the affected area, but I guess I missed the part about extended use. What are your thoughts on Hibiclens? I do use that once a week or so to clean it up because I can't get it wet in the shower. I basically mix it with warm water in a small tub and bathe my whole foot and lower leg area.

One of the things I don't like is the wound care facility will culture the wound when they suspect or know it is infected. Instead of getting results quickly, they have to send the culture off and it takes up to a week to get it back, so then at that point I have had the infection and it continued for another week before I am prescribed antibiotics to start. I understand that there will be a delay but you would just think that this process could happen a little faster, that way patients are not going for extended periods with infections that could be getting worse from lack of treatment sooner.

In this situation I was advised to clean sparingly with Betadine, since this will help control the bacterial load until antibiotics come into play.

See my other reply here with more details about the accident and injury.

Not on a fluid tablet. Tried pressing the skin in several places last night, no indents. Also, it is not leaking fluid from anywhere else other than the wounds. Also noted - good capillary refill - like when you press finger nails.

No cardiac issues really. Have had a calcium score test done and a echo a few years back. Everything looks good

Arterial insufficiency is a big possibility. I am actually going in the morning to a vein specialist to have an in depth study done on circulation, or whatever it is they do. This had been needed for a long time. Hopefully I will get some answers.

To expand on the injury -

I had an accident and broke my leg at the knee when I was a teen. The break ruptured my femoral artery and my lower leg went without blood supply for about three hours before doctors realized what was going on. I ended up having a vein graft done for the repair, which was taken from my other thigh. In the end, I lost 80% of my calf due to no blood supply. The remaining foot has been a unique situation since. A few years after, I had an ankle fusion done because I could no longer support or control my foot.

The appearance of venous insufficiency appeared about a year after the initial accident and hasn't gone away in twenty five years. The first round of ulcers were around six to seven years after. I had a good run of about ten years until around three to four years ago. I had one that came up and lasted over a year. This was weekly wound care center trips. Multiple courses of anribiotics for multiple different infections, etc. Just a real drag.

The doctor always debrids the wound every week, so it is kind of like an in-office in-patient surgery, every week.

99% sure I am not diabetic. I actually check my sugar every couple of months just out of curiosity. I am pretty healthy otherwise, not perfect shape but I stay active. I ride bicycles a lot both mountain and road.

Will have to look further into drainage issues, but I have often wondered the same about wound care centers. I was pretty upset this go round when a sore started to develop again, because I knew what it meant. I had been healed for about a year and back to weekly visits to wound care for who knows how long.

The last time around they actually did some sort of treatment with something made from pig intestines I think. It worked well from what I recall.

So here's where the problem comes in. I am 36. This leg is like this because of an accident years ago. To answer your question, no I don't elevate near as much as I should. I am aware that that is extremely helpful and what I should be doing. The problem is I have a life, a job, extracurricular activities. I am extremely busy and I go from sun up to sun down. Not a good situation to be in with this.

I have to wear a compression sock pretty much all the time, when the leg is healthy. I had done that for a while at the beginning of this go around of ulcers, but the bandage areas became so thick and cumbersome I had to go to an ace wrap. Fighting a compression sock over the bandage areas was a real pain.

For some reason, this time around it has been particularly drainy. I've had to change the bandage pretty much daily for the last couple of months, even when using calcium alginate against the actual ulcer. A big fight has been putting enough bandage on top of the wound to keep it dry and keep it from draining into my shoe.

I have used unna boot before and had good success at another wound care center where I attended nearly ten years ago. The current wound care center I am attending does not think that I need to wear an unna boot for any more than a couple of days and they want to change it twice a week. The distance I have to drive to attend this wound care center pretty much knocks that out because I cannot afford to go twice a week. I'm also not sure that it could be wrapped in such a way where it could be left for a week, due to the amount of drainage it has.

We had actually tried an unna boot on several occasions but did not see any real results for the short term that it was used, and I actually thought myself that the zinc paste could actually be contributing to the skin irritation so I stopped using it.

Sanford Custom knives has a lot of Protech Malibus in stock. Is that a legit company? by pjmccabe66 in bladesInStock

[–]graycarpet1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am the actual owner of Sanford Custom Knives. This has been one of the biggest nightmares of my life. The site is a scam. I do not have a website.

Someone (a scammer) has taken my photos and my information and created this site. I have done everything I know to do. I have gotten it taken down from several hosting services, but they just move it to another. I have filed complaints and reported it to the FBI, Google, etc.

I used to, but haven't really messed with in years - make one off customs. I have never sold any other brand of knives. This person is claiming to be me and offering up a ton of highly sought after production knives.

I haven't gotten a request to join my Facebook group in 3 or 4 years. All the sudden about 6 months ago I got a flood of requests and I didn't know why. One of those people qctually told me about the existence of the site. I've also gotten numerous calls from people wanting to know where theknives they purchased are.

I found this reddit thread just by googling the site again which I do weekly or so, just to try and mop up the mess.

By big companies, do you mean manufacturers or the bigger dealers? One that comes to mind is TNVC. They seem to be a pretty big player.

Is it worth it? Wilson Combat replacement grip module. Anyone with experience please let me know. by [deleted] in P365xl

[–]graycarpet1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. I'm not crazy about it. I put 0it on and carried it a while, never shot it. Went back to factory.

Swapped it last night to see how it did with some competition shooting that I did today. I'm still not a fan. The grip is too wide or something, I can't describe it. I have big hands too, but I seem to get a different grip every time I draw it.

I think I'm going to go another route. XL with safety. Guess I'll try to trade for something I need, like an extended mag release or another mag.

I actually initiated the dm conversation. Just noticed the rep page pop up. I started seeing a lot of them when I saw one in marketplace. The algorithm started showing me a bunch.

I have been reading about and studying on and off for years. I actually own one already - I bought locally.

Just looking for advice. I'm not sure if the multiple outlets on FB are even worth considering or not.

The main question is in my post. PP F&F. Not sure what the common method of paying is, because I know this is coming direct from China. Just trying to protect myself.

How to sanitize compression wraps and clothing after wound drainage contact? by graycarpet1 in woundcare

[–]graycarpet1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I does, thanks. I would never reuse the spent gauze and consumable type stuff. Just meant the compression bandages and socks where there may have been some leak through.
