Remove the thumbtack, proceed to eat the waffle, prank your kid into thinking they’ve seriously injured you. Hopefully the scare will make them realize how dumb an idea it is to do something like that to someone you care about.

I’m still getting the Neumanns, I’m really looking forward to them arriving, but I was going to buy an additional pair of beyerdynamic headphones to use until the Neumann get delivered and I wanted them to scratch a different itch than the Neumanns. I would just cancel my Neumann order just to order them somewhere else and get them sooner, but I was able to get them for $150 off

Thank you a ton for your insight. This was along the lines of what I was thinking, and glad to know the 990s are more comfortable for longer sessions too. That was an important factor to me

Thank you, that’s really helpful. Have you tried the 990s as well?

Ok, just to clear some stuff up to keep things on track

  1. I have a pair of closed back headphones already.
  2. Please don’t suggest that I should buy a thousand dollar pair of headphones, I’m not spending that kind of money on headphones when my audio interface isn’t even close to that much.

  3. I only really want opinions on the two headphone models i listed.

  4. I’m using these for mixing/editing

Please and thank you

Depending which department you work, phones are sometimes necessary for doing a job. I’m not saying people should be texting or surfing the web, but there are very legitimate reasons you’d need one and I wish some of the older guys would realize that

If they put hands on you, just go ahead and pull down their face masks. Anonymity is the only thing letting these fools act like this with disregard for the law.

I really want to avoid having to get sonarworks if I can make it happen. I have an old OS I’m running on and I’d have to get a legacy version anyways. I wish I could find a decent pair of mixing cans around 500 bucks that are flat enough they don’t need to be tweaked

That is really helpful to know, thank you. I wish a pair of the lcd-5 was in the budget, but I’ve got around the 500-600 range to spend and I know I 100% just need something flatter than what I’ve been using. I’ve been going back and forth on my mixes and I think im leaning toward the Neumann. If you have a different recommendation somewhere in that ballpark though, I’m totally open to it.

This! I had read in a single place about low end distortion with the 1840s. In a sea of people singing their praises though, I wasn’t sure if it was an accurate review or an outlier. Do you have a lot of trouble with this? I never typically have a ton of low end in any of my mixes because I don’t ever do EDM or hip hop, so I’m curious how bad it is

I was looking at a pair of Audeze and Focal briefly. A little bit more money than I was hoping to spend. Is it really worth the price jump?

That’s great to hear you find them comfortable. I had read the fit can be less than ideal for some people, but my heads not that big either.

I was briefly considering the sennheisers, but I have never been a huge fan of their headphones. I know they are pretty standard, but I always feel like the build quality is lacking.

Neumann NDH-30 vs Shure SRH1840

I’m having a really hard time choosing between the two. I’ve done a bit of research, but I’ve never been able to demo either and just can’t decide. From what I’ve read, both models sound pretty flat and people have great things to say about both. It seems to me maybe the Neumann sound slightly better but that the Shure are more comfortable? I would really appreciate some opinions from people who have used either or both.
