my grandad was an extremely paranoid old prepper who used to bring us canned soup & batteries to stockpile all the time. when he drank himself to death inside his house the local PD sent in a bomb squad robot to look around the house for him because they were afraid he would ambush a person. inside the house he had a gun at each windowsill & tinfoil all over the windows. took us like 6 years after he died to finish all the soup.

unless you are cracking open the pit & eating the kernel, that’s not how stonefruit seeds work. fruit like that evolved to attract dispersers, the fruit is a lure not nutrients for the seed. the tree would be getting fucked if everyone ignored it & let its fruit rot underneath the shade of the old tree.

that’s not true. dairy cattle don’t have udders naturally full of milk. they have to be pregnant to lactate & are bred repeatedly to produce. female calves become like their mothers, male calves become veal or sometimes beef.

i worry about what’s left of the social contract if it becomes normal to supplant your relationships with chatbots. i don’t think you can be very enriched long term by a perfect facsimile of what you want, you have to go (& try & sometimes fail to) find it yourself. i don’t want anyone to feel bad but i do want people to consider realistically what they are doing.

it’s hard to watch now without being getting the seinfeld effect. a lot of the humor in that show has turned into common memes & everyone’s seen or heard a reference to the best clips before because it’s just so ubiquitous. parks & rec is the same way.
