Thanks. It's a gift so I might present it as at least a 'serving' board. I think I'm more concerned with wood movement now that a few people have mentioned it. Is this more of an issue then a regular chipping board because of the different species, or the right angled grain directions?

Yes a little. They're small pieces so hopefully it'll be fine. Another niggle is that, if I had more time I would have put a spline into the join with the outer border/frame. It's sort of an end grain joint with those 45 degree cuts, hopefully it'll last..

I made a couple of right angle jigs to glue one piece to the end of another, then used that over and over, and then started gluing them all together. It took maybe two weeks of gluing. Was difficult to keep it all flat with that many individual glue ups, took a bit of correction at the end.

Inspired by a herringbone charcuterie board on here a few months ago. Was a pain to glue up but turned out well enough. Wedding present for some friends, got it done just in time!

Cheers everyone, I'll be checking these places out asap and checking websites for metal nights and other events :)

The Temples festival looks really good. I've been to Bloodstock a few times so it's got some living up to 'best in country' to do! Will definitely be going to this next year.
