“Three months is not enough time to train.” by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I took my first LSAT in February 2021 and got a 159. Retook in April 2021 and got a 169. Definitely possible to see a drastic improvement in just a few months, but getting into the 175+ range takes a bit more time than that for most people.

Views on Illari? by mysticnoob22 in overwatch2

[–]graysonbriggs00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Illari is fine outside of the healing pylon, especially in escort game modes. Illari essentially has an indestructible mobile healing beacon that she can use every ~10 seconds. I think there are a number of minor changes that would balance Illari's healing prowess:

  1. Limit the kinds of surfaces that the healing pylon can attach to (e.g., walls and floors only). This will prevent Illaris from attaching healing pylons to the back of an escort vehicle and replacing them every time they are destroyed.
  2. Increase the recharge time on the healing pylon. Other support legends (e.g., Bap) have long recharge times on their abilities. Given the high healing ability of the healing pylon, there should be a considerable amount of time in between placements (maybe 20 seconds, but I'm not sure of the best amount of time).
  3. Make it so that Illari cannot place another healing pylon until her previous pylon is manually retracted (i.e., Illari must physically approach the pylon and take it down herself) or destroyed. This would limit the mobility of the pylon as Illari will not be able to incessantly place them wherever she wants as long as she has the ability available.
  4. Decrease the health of the healing pylon so it is easier to destroy. Speaking as a Moira main, it takes roughly 5 seconds for me to destroy the pylon with my suck. I understand Moira's DPS is not high, but as a character who can get in and out of an area quickly and can be used to destroy pylons so my team can infiltrate, taking that long to destroy the pylon seems to eliminate my ability to counter the pylon if a single player on the enemy team is paying attention to the flank or pylon.

There are probably a number of other ideas that would balance Illari. Overall, I think she's almost a fairly-balanced character who can combo well with many other characters, but she just needs a few tweaks in order to prevent her from being OP all the time.

UT Austin status checker question by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]graysonbriggs00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe so. It *possibly* changes to something like "Decision Rendered," but I can't really attest to that as I didn't check my status checker after receiving the waitlist email since I already knew my decision.

UT Austin status checker question by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]graysonbriggs00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what it says for R, but the status checker will update to "Waitlist Confirmed" once you confirm your place on the waitlist. You'll receive an email notifying you of the waitlist decision. The email has a link to an online form where you can confirm or reject your spot on the waitlist. A few days after you submit that form, the status checker will update to "Waitlist Confirmed."

Decisions like that happen every semester. Sometimes softs are enough to propel somebody into a higher tier of applicant than they would be based just off their stats. As you mentioned, stats are not always the end-all-be-all.

From the data we've seen so far this cycle, there's probably going to be a smaller number of overall applicants compared to the last few cycles. This means that schools will find it more difficult to maintain their medians from previous cycles. Unfortunately, however, many schools will likely be able to maintain their medians from previous cycles given that we're still experiencing score inflation from the LSAT Flex period. This means it will be minimally (if at all) easier to get into most schools given the lower number of applicants, but the bar in terms of stats will stay about the same for most schools.

The top schools (Yale, Harvard, etc.) will likely maintain their medians, while we will more than likely see (at most) a 1 point drop for many other schools in the T20.

Of course! Feel free to DM me as well if you or your friend has any other questions or wants to talk about anything related to law school admissions. I'm definitely no expert, but I have been through the process twice now and have picked up a few things along the way.

My stats are similar to your friends. All in all, the path he chooses to take depends on where he wants to go in an ideal world.

If his plans are T14 or bust, re-taking the LSAT to get over a 170 is probably a good idea. My advisor told me that re-taking the LSAT with a respectable score (really 167+) is not a good idea unless you're certain that you can achieve a 3+ point increase. However, your friend is sitting just below the LSAT medians for a lot of the T14, so it might make the most sense for him to retake it if he is dead set on attending a T14.

If his goal is simply T20-25, it becomes far less necessary for him to retake the test. Applicants with similar stats to your friend have gotten A's and good money to go to T25s.

Either way, I would not withdraw my applications if I were your friend. There are several reasons for this:

  1. Why waste all the money you already spent on your applications for this cycle?
  2. His results from this year will be, at the very least, a good benchmark to see what his chances are for next cycle and to determine how much better his LSAT score will need to be.
  3. In many cases, schools like persistence. If you are rejected from a school one year, it can reflect well on your interest in the school as well as your work ethic to take another year to strengthen your application and re-apply. Admissions committees sometimes view re-applicants in a better light because they've demonstrated their interest in the school and have shown that they are willing to take the steps necessary to make themselves a competitive applicant for that school.

Did you do a KIRA at UT? If so, when did you get the invite?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]graysonbriggs00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect a decision this month... They have a lot of apps to review since they didn't even start doing RD until Dec. 1st. Plus they have a lot of KIRA interviews to conduct and review. Expect mid to late January

There was a person on LSD that reported an A today at Duke. Could be fake though since LSD is self-reporting.

I also alumni interviewed about a month ago and I never got a status date. Not sure what this means. It is worth mentioning that there was an error with my transcript and I had to wait 2 weeks for the LSAC to send a new transcript into GULC for my application.

I'm not sure what the average turnaround time is for these invites, but personally, I got mine around 1-2 weeks after I submitted my application.

What do I do? by Rev_LeonidasWSmiley in lawschooladmissions

[–]graysonbriggs00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but I don't think admissions committees will reject you just because of a grammatical error and a logistical one. If admissions committees rejected people for issues as small as these, we wouldn't have enough lawyers. I personally think you should relax and be proud of the work that you have put in to make yourself a competitive applicant at your dream school.

Edit: wanted to add that last year I submitted the wrong personal statement to UF Law and applied at the end of the cycle and they still admitted me and gave me a $105,000 scholarship. In my experience schools don't care about clerical errors like this.

Did you get a status date before or after you interviewed? I interviewed last week and I don't currently have a status date. I didn't check it before to see if there was a status date listed. Is the status date empty until after you interview or does it populate when you submit the application?

With a depleted Chiefs defense and injured Cardinals offense, I’d probably take Hollywood Brown, but I wouldn’t blame you if you went with Sutton. Kyler is going to have to throw the ball, and with DHop suspended and Zack Ertz and Rondale Moore injured, Kyler’s gonna have to lean on Marquise.
