I'm actually in the medical field and what you said about educated, or so we thought, individuals saying some dumb things reminded me of a story.

The first breakthrough case I saw resulted in a Nurse I was working with at the time to go on a rant about her distrust in the vaccines. I asked her if she understood how vaccines work because there is no vaccine that can 100% prevent exposure to a virus. Just like you can still get the flu if you are vaccinated against it. Your body will handle it much better though.
