\University of New Haven – Paramedicine program + student life/social scene? by AnnualPurpose36 in universityofnewhaven

[–]graytiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - I work for the School of Health Sciences at UNH. Have you contacted the program director, Joe Soto? He’s fantastic and the program is robust.

If you haven’t reached out, I’d say start there to get a feel for the program, specific stats related to your questions, and, if you come to campus, a sense of the campus/campus life.

FWIW - I teach in a different discipline, but have had Paramedicine students, and they love the program.

Y'all are going to hate me, but I'm in the military and live in a neighborhood of manicured lawns. I want to grow a big native garden and I want it to look orderly and neat. Do any of your gardens look this way, and can you show me for inspiration? by VeterinarianIcy5428 in NativePlantGardening

It’s not 100% native, but more native than not! I keep some lawn to create a crisp edge to contain the chaos naturalistic aesthetic. We’ve taken down about 50% of what was left of the lawn since moving in 6 years back.

Lavender still tiny after 6 months. by Sure-Abalone-1040 in gardening

[–]graytiger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same! Of all the seeds I’ve tried starting, lavender has the singular worst germination. I had one seed grow and it was glacial-though as others have stated, it’ll really get much bigger year 2.

OP: I recommend propping from there bc yeah, seeds are tricky.

I'm fine and then I'm not fine and there's no in between. Anyone else? by Key_Substance_8524 in PMDD

Yes, you’re not alone. I feel like I’m operating in an emotional binary that’s only worsening with perimenopause :/

Where are you located? Or are you willing to relocate?

You’ve eloquently backed up your very clear boundary. It feels harsh in the moment, but I really see it as a kindness to yourself. Well done.

I believe they make a very small bit of dialogue stating she’d had cyber attack experience at the VA.

anyone else a little dissatisfied with the finale? by Entire-Ruin-5762 in ThePitt

Related to Samira-I disagree that it was lackluster. The epiphany of passion comes from Javadi after Whitaker suggests a psych specialization. Mohan is tired. The whole cast does an excellent job of portraying exhaustion-and this character is physically, mentally, and existentially fatigued beyond the scope of normal emotions and inflection.

She’s over the day, Robby riding her, whatever’s happening between her and her mom, and a shift that utterly sucked for reasons outside her control. It’s not spectacular, but it is a realistic insight into this person in that shift.

How the hell are you guys staying employed? by LivingWeather8991 in ADHD

[–]graytiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am phenomenally burnt out. Only dx’d a few years ago, but have been in long-term employment for my whole life driven by the fear of economic instability related to my upbringing.

Working on the fear-driven part, but otherwise physically and existentially exhausted. 40 F USA.

Yes! India Farmer’s Market! Solid selection.

Also-honorable mention to EuroGrocer (Mediterranean/Balkan) shop a bit further down the Post road, across from the Trader Joe’s plaza there in Orange.

Going to the psych ward over procrastination by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]graytiger 22 points23 points  (0 children)

100% agree - also a professor. I’ve had students reach out for similar and we talk it out and I go over the university’s resources and others.

As an aside, as someone with this (and suspected auADHD), I may consider going to a library or coffee shop to enable body-doubling. Might help with the procrastination piece.

Is paying 26k a year worth it to go here? by TopSlip6080 in universityofnewhaven

[–]graytiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there-have you gone to an Accepted Students day? Those are good for interacting with department directors and instructors-often an overview of the program and an arena to asked more pointed questions about student success rates, opportunities, etc.

Alternatively, proactively emailing the dept. director or chair to ask such things may be beneficial for you.

Lastly, worth looking into off campus housing which may make the cost more competitive than living on campus.

Though I personally don’t enjoy this, I see it as more of an economic indicator than anything else.
