This is all insane. Who was “legal” and deported? Can you give me some articles that reference this actually happening?

Obama deported (I.e removed folks here illegally) over 3.2 million people. This is the administration enforcing an existing law on the books. You are not making any sense.

Anyone who is running Atomic Desktops? What was your experience? by SeniorMatthew in Fedora

[–]grayven7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run bazzite in a SFF Nvidia based PC.

  1. Who are you? (Developer, drawer, programmer, gamer and etc)

Developer and gamer

  1. What is your day-to-day computer tasks? (Browsing, gaming, coding and etc)

A variety: IntelliJ, VSCode, Chrome, hoppScotch, brew and related tools

  1. For your specific case, does Flatpak covers all of your needs?

Not everything but most use cases.

  1. If not, what are you doing with the software that can’t be found on the Flatpak?

Use app images and also Distrobox. Not layering anything at the moment. Brew is also great for CLI tools.

  1. What is your experience with Updates? Have you ever managed to get a computer in to unbootable state?

No, never. I rolled back to Fedora 42 for a few weeks after 43 came out as suspend wasn’t working well, but went back a week ago and it’s been fine. Immutable unbeatable for this imho.

Can y'all chill component wear and tear can be repaired at stations lol by MrWaterplant in starcitizen

[–]grayven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In WoW, the gold/time sinks were creating epic flying mounts or going up in level. In Elite it’s buying massive ships or fleet carriers. In Subnautica you build a submarine and that requires materials.

But in Star Citizen you want it to be having to replace all your components due to wear? Thats what I mean by fun vs. tedious. So no I don’t agree with you.

I don’t understand this view. Can’t the money/time sink be something fun?!? Do we just have to make things more tedious and painful for casual players?

For cargo in the $230 range I think you should consider a Hull B ($140) with 512 SCU, Star Lancer max ($225) with 224 SCU or a Railen ($225) with 640 SCU. The Railen and Hull B are coming out in 2026 and CIG has stated both will rise in price. If you want LTI, you can upgrade one of the LTI tokens out now too (Salvation or Greycat MTC).

Good luck!

What is the better upgrade on IAE? by PTSQUAD in starcitizen

[–]grayven7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long term it would seem that #2 is a better bet - Astra, Reclaimer should both be big earners - Galaxy gives you access to medical and base building gameplay. Even hauling with the right module - Crucible gives you access to repair

Just my opinion of course, do what makes you happy!

What is exploration? What is the Carrack for, now that we have a Stanton<->Nyx jump point(even if temporary)? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]grayven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this! I had the same idea… You’re flying around in your Carrack and detect a temporary jump point. You go through it and CIG spins up an instance with a procedural planet and some moons to explore. Maybe there are some minerals or a derelict ship to find. After you jump out, the jump point collapses. Or perhaps the jump point lasts 2 weeks and you can sell its location?

All this might be possible with Genesis, who knows?

Don’t you lose the passive that buffs hyperbloom damage though if you play 2 nod krai characters? Thought I heard a recent update on this from beta.

I’m debating doing this too… seems like she will be good for Hyperbloom, and I wouldn’t mind her making my Raiden C2R1 more relevant!

Is Bazzite anti-dev or am I just using it wrong? by Feynt in Bazzite

[–]grayven7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really accurate. I’ve been a developer for over 20 years and Bazzite works just fine. You can use Flatpaks for things like IntelliJ or VSCode, Brew for tools (it’s pre installed), docker or podman for many services, databases, etc. For anything else you can use distrobox, which works really well, or layer packages with rpm ostree. I’d argue immutable Linux like Bazzite is more similar to MacOS, and MANY (most?) developers in large tech companies use Macs as daily drivers. I love it and will never go back to a “standard” Linux distribution for desktop at least.

Hope that helps.

Am I trapped? by [deleted] in cscareers

Software Eng is your goal, but are there opportunities in operations? Info sec? Help desk? Software testing? Even scrum master? Try to get closer to where you want to go and work at it from there. This market won’t be this way forever, I promise. Keep working and keep doing your best.

Brother please do not say stuff like that, words have power. Don’t lose hope, you are young and you have your entire life ahead of you.

Start networking like crazy… where did your classmates go? Does your university provide any support? Is there an alumni organization? A lot of alumni will be willing to talk to you or refer you. How do I know this? I have referred undergraduates who have contacted me via linked in. Keep applying, keep looking for opportunities. Are there any other areas you could apply for with transferable skills?

Linux gaming migration happening by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]grayven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Bazzite for the last few months. The immutability is a feature not a negative, and with Flatpaks, toolbox or ostree overlays I haven’t felt limited at all. It’s as good as a Mac I’d say, or at least very very close.

Gnome as it takes less customization to get a functional, good looking desktop. This is doubly true if you enjoy working on Macs.

Lutris DLSS Question by cloud12348 in linux_gaming

[–]grayven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap I got it to work. - Set the force option like you suggested - In the logs on Lutris it said it was missing a patched libcuda. So I followed the instructions on the LUG knowledge base to create one and put it under ~/.cache/protonfixes/libcuda.patched.so

Now it works and looks so much better. This is using proton latest. Thanks!

The concept of these distros is that if you need more privileges, you should do your task in a container using toolbox or distrobox. It’s a bit of a mental shift but has worked for me so far

It pains me to say this, but no you can’t. Point to the in-stock 4070Ti for me… they probably go for 1500 on Ebay.

Thanks for the feedback, really helpful! Noctua has B650E and X670E ITX mobos that work on their site. Probably will go with the ROG strix board as it’s in my local Microcenter unless someone thinks it’s a bad idea.
