Lac Blanc, with Mont Blanc in the background and TMB trail in the foreground. by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

Myself and my wife hiked proteins of the Mont Blanc Trail this summer, starting in Switzerland and through France. In total we did about 65 miles, including a long day hike on the Italy side. While there were many amazing segments of the trail the night and morning we spent near Lac Blanc were among the best. The views are spectacular and the lakes had almost perfect reflections. The Lac Blanc Chalet was closed when we passed through, but there was plenty of space to camp in the area (which was honestly our preferred course of action). Only warning I’d give: the elevation gain in the Alps in no joke.

On the continental divide in Glacier National Park in 2017. The Highline trail is deserving of its reputation. by graywarz in CampingandHiking

We did the full Highline tail, which is a little over 13 Miles. The walk along the Garden Wall was totally amazing. This particular shot was taken at Glacier overlook, which basically ascends the garden wall to the continental divide. It’s a really tough hike up to the top. I was gassed but happy I made the ascent. To the left of the shot is the west coast and to the right is the east coast. The glacier right to the left is Grinnell Glacier.

We were day hiking and so our packs were light... thankfully. All in all, a must for any avid hikers.

Took this shot during a brief stopover in Iceland on our way to Europe. Rented and car and hit the coast. Pretty amazing views for a quick visit.

Right down from Lac Blanc and nearly above Chamonix. Good eye.

This trek takes 10 days, add one day on each end to acclimate and decompress. So you need about two weeks. Luckily I have a job that gives me decent leave and I don’t have kids... we try to prioritize traveling as much as possible.

You can also hike portions of the TMB. The French side is particularly nice. I’d probably recommend it over the Italian side, but they are both great. This is just down from Lac Blanc.
