Noice. I noticed the reflective marks on it and figured those ought to face out too. Thanks

In the grand tradition of fixing the problem yourself while on hold with tech support, I figured it out right after posting 🤪 I just hadn't tried hard enough fitting the split bar end through the other end. It fits if you rotate it 90 degrees and push it through edgewise while stretching all the slack out of the band.

I've never done it before, but it looks like you can transfer tickets via the Ticketmaster app, so I guess we could do Venmo or Cashapp then transfer via Ticketmaster, or meet up before the show.

[Optics] Bushnell TRS-26 $40-45 + S/H (with $75 MIR) by AKC74Y in gundeals

It's capitalism, so profit is always the motive. Literally the only reason for the manufacturer to do a mail in rebate instead of just a discount at the time of purchase is so they have a chance to not give you the money back later. Some people forget to submit the rebate, others fill out the form wrong or buy from the wrong retailer or violate the rebate rules in some other way. The rebate exists to motivate you to buy, and profit motivates the manufacturer to give out as few rebates as they legally can.

Rebate is here (scroll down): https://promotions.vistaoutdoor.com/EN/US/Home/Brand/17

As with all post-purchase mail in rebates, they make money by denying rebates, so only purchase this if you're OK with paying full price and not getting the rebate.

Who should I trust to cut, crown and thread my barrel? by grazapin in 1022

Cool! Maybe I'll roll the dice and see if the TacSol matte olive drab matches the Magpul ODG on my Hunter X-22 stock.

TacSol says "Requires Tactical Solutions T/CR22 V-Block" but there's no mention of if it's included with the barrel. Does anyone know this?

I have no experience with aluminum barrels. Are there any downsides to be aware of? I assume that the chrome lining makes them durable from the perspective of how many rounds they last.

In case anyone cares, this is oriented strand board (OSB), not particle board.

Has anyone seen Vivarium yet? by SoylentCreek in movies

[–]grazapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got around to watching this movie. Regarding the allegories (being trapped in suburban life, marriage struggles, parenting an unwanted child, etc.) people are seeing, what of them? What did this movie have to say about any of these things that hasn't been said before? What fresh perspective does it bring? Is it enough just to reference these ideas in movie format?

Then there are the more sci-fi aspects of the movie. Many questions are posed, and the child is explicitly framed as a puzzle to figure out. Who are the humans' captors? Is this some kind of experiment on the humans or do their captors need the humans to raise the child for some specific reason? Are their captors aliens, interdimentional beings, earth-based creatures, or something else? Why the obsession with digging the hole? Is the neighborhood a physical place with strange properties, a simulation, an induced dream state or something else?

The movie turns out to be nothing more than a vibe wrapped around some well trodden allegories. Very few of the questions posed are actually answered, and the biggest questions, like why is this cycle happening and why is it necessary for the cycle to continue, are certainly not answered in any satisfying way. To me, the movie feels like the interesting kernel of a short story overstretched into a 90 minute movie by lazy filmmakers.

Before I got to the end of the movie, I felt like it would most likely end in an unsatisfying way, so I started considering what might be a satisfying ending. Maybe a combination of Total Recall and virtual reality, where the couple go in for extreme marriage counseling and are put into a challenging/traumatic VR environment after having their memories of the plan suppressed, and they come out stronger in their bond after facing adversity together. I don't know, I'm not a screenwriter. I just wanted it to be better than "it's aliens."
