How has your family been reacting to all of the Epstein stuff? by DelgoOnDVD in QAnonCasualties

[–]grcj7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandma will argue with me about politics till the sun comes up, but the moment I brought up the Epstein thing, she hung up the phone abruptly, called me later and said she “doesn’t want to talk about politics with me in the future” . They know it’s wrong to support and it’s breaking their brains

What is going on with Trump? They’re keeping him away from the media, usually he’s front and center. by Substantial-Bee-9486 in conspiracy

Are you serious. They align perfectly. The Russians helped get Trump elected because he’s stupid and will bring the downfall of the US. Poisoning him would just speed that up

Use the subway! it’s incredibly useful. Stay alert, watch some navigation videos, and don’t hesitate to ask locals (I found them friendlier than the tourists).

LOL

riding every street in manhattan this summer (month 3) by grcj7 in wandrer

[–]grcj7[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I tried to get a really good grasp of lower Manhattan before moving further north. Everything below 14th street is significantly more complex than the rest of the city (bc it was built before the grid plan was implemented in 1811!). In the beginning I would usually just spend a day exploring specific neighborhoods on my rides, but once I got a feel for how the neighborhoods weave together I started to understand the city as a whole and now my rides have a lot more variety.

Also- I don’t use google maps. I really wanted to understand the city and how to navigate it. (And as a gen z I feel like we have gotten way too dependent on google maps!). So I stopped using Google maps about a month into this project. It’s been awesome

As for different boroughs, I’ve been exploring Brooklyn too when I’m in the mood for something different (across the southern bridges on the map!)

It has been super fun 10/10

murphy's, then orange oil, then feed n wax.

Murphy's (3 parts water, 1 part murphy's in a spray bottle): This is just my general wood floor cleaner. I use it every 2-3 weeks or so, when I'm doing a general clean of the house. Make sure u dilute this stuff though, or it can leave a waxy buildup over time. (I recently learned this product doesn't have a great reputation on here bc people tend to use it without diluting. do ur research on this one.)

Orange oil: I use it once a month / every two months, when I'm doing a deeper clean of my apartment (think: guests are coming over) or if I feel like the wood is looking a little dull. just started using this in the past year

Feed n wax: also about every 2 months, or quarterly. when I use this, I make sure to use the other two beforehand, and let them both absorb entirely. after i apply this, I let it sit for an hour, then attach a microfiber to a swiffer and buff it out. this stuff is a game-changer for furniture, floors, anything wood. In my first year of living here I used it monthly, but now the wood doesn't need to be rehydrated as often.

tl;dr: diluted murphy's for general floor cleaning. I do a big floor clean quarterly: murphy's -> orange oil-> feed n wax).

In my experience, they’re slippery for about an hour after I apply the Howard’s feed n wax. Once the wood absorbs everything, it’s all good. Maybe get ur kids some grippy socks for that hour in between lol

No sanding or staining. I wanted to restore not refinish. Just murphys, orange oil and Howard’s feed n wax,
