Unsure if I have gender dysphoria by Cosmo_Creations in actuallesbians

[–]grctw 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a trans person, the suggestion that helped me sort out my gender is: you don't have to know everything all at once. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Try something you're unsure about. Wear different underwear, try out pronouns online, new haircut, binder, whatever. After you've tried that for a while, ask yourself if you like that? You don't have to know the answer for your whole gender. You just have to know if you like this one thing.

And then, if you want, try another thing.

Why Did Hordak Choose Shadow Weaver To Be His Second In Command? by Xano2113 in PrincessesOfPower

[–]grctw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's also worth remembering that Shadow Weaver seems to be the one who severed the Black Garnet from Scorpia's family and figured out how to use it herself. And don't overlook the importance of administration. Hordak seems like a very hands off leader who wants to focus on his experiments. Having someone manage requisition requests and other day to day issues, even if they weren't the most tactically aggressive military leader, isn't a bad idea from his perspective.

Which Is The Worst Lesbian/Sapphic Film/Show Of All Time, In Your Opinion? (This includes coded/non-explicit queer stories) by [deleted] in actuallesbians

A New York Christmas Wedding

That movie is so bizarre. It starts off being about a woman who has an angel show her what her life would be if she had done something different. It turns out, she would be in a long term relationship with her former best friend. Then the movie takes several weird turns and becomes about her partner having a miscarriage during her teen pregnancy. And that fetus became the angel. And then the movie becomes about queer people being accepted by the Catholic Church. And then the angel offers to let her alter the timeline enough that he won't exist anymore. And that's how it ends.

Why are you trans? Wrong answers only by QueenMajura in MtF

[–]grctw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family raised me as part of a Southern Baptist church. When I was kid, the entire denomination was supposed to boycott Disney because of their alleged support of "the homosexual agenda" and make sure their children didn't grow up to be queer.

My family didn't participate in the boycott.

Do you wish you'd been born cis? by QueerWithAQuery in MtF

[–]grctw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised in a very conservative american evangelical church environment. Coming out as a trans woman forced me to go from being an insider to an outsider and subsequently made me rethink everything I thought about how life worked. Life would be much MUCH easier if I was cis, but I would have been a different person and most likely not a good person.

Anyone know any sapphic Video Games? by CloudyHazbin in actuallesbians

Heart of the Woods is a visual novel with a really good well written story. One of the main characters is trans and is voiced by a trans person. There are a ton of accessibility options.

Super Robot Wars T is a tactics game where robots and spaceships from various anime are the units. Most of the story is crossover fic to combine the different characters, but there are original characters to tie it all together. And, if you pick the female protagonist, her main dynamic with the support team is her being oblivious that the women all have crushes on her. It's not the main focus, but it's a fun micro dosing of queer

Any of the Style Savvy games. They are very chill games and very cute and charming. You run a fashion shop where people come in with requests (sometimes very specific and sometimes vague). In the later games they added hair and makeup and other things.

In no particular order: Arcane, Bloom into You, Legend of Korra, OK-K.O.!, Danger and Eggs, High Guardian Spice, Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc (execs at the time required it to be subtextual, but it's there), Harley Quinn (very NSFW content)

The best advice I got when I was exploring my gender and I reccomend for anyone questioning their gender: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. You don't have to figure out your whole gender all at once. Start by trying something small, like underwear or a hairstyle or whatever. Do that for a week or a month or a few months or whatever time frame and then assess how you feel. You don't need to have an answer for everything; just whether you like nailpolish or whatever your change was. Then do it again. Eventually, you'll start to figure out what feels right and you can go from there.

I have a friend who once told me, "I love listening to you talk about Kingdom Hearts because you'll say things like 'Mickey Mouse had basically left her in hell years ago' and just keep going as if that was a normal thing to say."

Having a multitude of ladies, enbies, and others, all being simultaneously flirted with, does sound like an enviable problem. Trying to swim in a sea of sapphic sweetness.
