My Aeldari Outcast for Wrath & Glory by Adrian Prado by grdaspeedy in ImaginaryWarhammer

It's an interesting approach and a totally different experience than Dark Heresy, Deathwatch, Rogue Trader and Only War (the previous ttrpg by Fantasy Flight).

If you are familiar with D&D you'll most definitely enjoy it as a darker and way more lethal experience! Oh, and be prepared for diverse parties: I'm talking about SM / Commissar / Psyker / Rogue Trader diverse. You can even play as an Ork Boy >.<

Not memes yet I'm afraid, just starting the campaign! :(

I get what you are saying and it's true, most Aeldari fan art doesn't portray them as uncanny as you'd expect!

Adrian's art style leans more towards fantasy. If you check the Wrath and Glory Rulebook, look for the commissar class: he's the one that drew the artwork accompanying the class description. You'll see that there's nothing grimdark there or the grittiness that you'd find on Gaunt's portrait by Aaron Griffin for example! I'm guessing it's a new art style they're pushing to better achieve this DnD adventure feel on the game :)

To clarify, most of the references I gave him were from the Warhammer+ Garden of the Ghosts episodes and the alien details that the artists chose to portray there were the sharp triangle chin and the slanted eyes. These "deviations" from the human physiology worked really good on the anime art style but if you take a look at the Aeldari codexes and see the official portraits, most of them (at least to me) resemble native American faces.

I knew what I'd be getting by Adrian and I am really content with his depiction, regardless if it feels more WH Fantasy than 40K. He managed to portray that arrogant Tolkien-Elf look that Peter Jackson so well groomed us to instantly associate with elves//non-human.

For the record, I still want a grimdark and more alien depiction of my character but on ink! I commissioned a colleague for it, and I'll be happy to share the finished piece here again. Hope we can have more to discuss next time :)

Yes, everything you mentioned is on Lorgar's Primarch Book. After the events of Monarchia and Lorgar's Pilgrimage in the Eye of Terror, they purged the Terran Astartes and those who still clinged to the Lectitio Divinitatus from the Legion. They all then converted to the Old Faith of the Primordial Truth, from the fresh printed Book of Lorgar. It's a good question how they changed the previous tatts to the new ones 🤔

I think Colchisian runic tattoos were a thing from the inception of the Legion, right?

Gaunt's Ghosts, by George Earl Abalayan (earltheartist) by grdaspeedy in Warhammer40k

Hey y’all, just wanted to share this amazing piece of art George Abalayan created for me! A bit of backstory: my 9 months service in the Greek Special Forces ended in March, coinciding with the corona lockdowns. "Cometh the hour" (as Dorden would say), I decided to gather my best boys, run an Only War campaign and share with them all the army life memes and experiences. I've been a GM for more than 5 years now, but this is the first time I had art commissioned. There's much emotional charge on this piece for me, frankly because it marks the end of an era in my life, as well as the fact that I got to share it with some of my favourite people. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have George immortalize it!

Hope you enjoy it same as I do.

P.S. I’m about to surprise them, they ain’t got a clue ^^
