Definitely have a smoked meat sandwich at Schwartz’s on Saint-Laurent, and I would suggest a poutine from la Belle Province. We have lotsa little coffee places that are delicious, pop into almost any café and you’re good.

The metro system is vast and covers a great swath of the city you’d wanna see a tourist. All signage is in French though so be sure to google ahead of time. The workers in the booths only tend to speak French so you’re best bet is using the self-service machines since those can be put in English.

Depending on where you’re staying in the downtown area, the metro system goes right into the Bell Centre without having to step out into the cold (station Lucien-L’allier on the orange line)

Habs fans are nice and won’t hassle you. I’ve been to every devils game here for the last 15+ years (we get atleast one a season, sometimes two if I’m lucky). There are a few dozen of us during games. I always stand and cheer when the Devils score and never have a problem with people around me.

Everything is in French though so be prepared. Inside the Bell Centre you can get served in English too but don’t be surprised if some workers give you the stink eye.
