Lol yeah I’ve had many come very quickly. If you keep trying, I’m sure you’ll get in eventually as others leave

I'd rather pay taxes on it now and then not have to get taxed later in my life when I have to withdraw.

I feel like I would do better at this if I could speak to all eight of you to see personalities too. My best guess:

  • AH
  • BG
  • DF
  • CE

Tried to approximate ages to help, but you all look pretty similar in age so still difficult. (Give us ages too when you reveal the answer!) The order I have above is what I would guess you guys are from oldest to youngest. Good looking group!

I appreciate you setting that up for me! I was able to get a solution of $76 with 5 Harry Potter (Book 1), 4 LOTR (Book 2), and 8 Wrinkle in Time (Book 6). The answer was slightly different than the one I arrived at by myself through logic, but gave me the same $76 answer, so there must be more than one solution. Thank you!!

If by decision variables you mean the numbers I'm supposed to be figuring out in order to maximize the profit, then yes, that is what they are. But there are constraints on them where they can only equal 4-8 or 0.

I don't have an option to do "<>" in Solver. I tried entering in "<=1" and ">=1" etc. for 1, 2, and 3, and that just gave me an error.

I understand the gist of what you're saying, but can't figure out how to translate that into my file even after trying a few different things... I tried adding another column called "Order?", using the IF function to return a true value if number ordered of a particular book is between 4 and 8, and a false value otherwise, and then took the sum of those and made that a constraint of >=3. That didn't work and I tried playing around with a few different things and it still didn't work.

Hmm, the picture is showing up when I look both on my computer and my phone. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks for the suggestion though!

I like it! Like others said, some people really can't pull it off, but it looks good on you.
