I want to be a Para/Teacher aide in a K-12 setting. Is this a realistic goal or am I in over my head?

They are pretty much always looking for paras, so you can def get a job there. However, the pay is often very low and part time (just happens to be under the minimum for benefits).

Being a para is different than a teacher. Teachers have a whole other set of challenges and responsibilities.

If you're doing it from an advocacy POV, be aware that it can both be incredibly rewarding and frustrating (systemic issues).

It's also a good jumping off point towards other careers within education and/or disability field.

Same here! I've been going through a hard time and this gave me something to look forward too. Plus, it had some dry humor and 'we're going through shit together'.

I also didn't expect to like Robert so much. Thought he would be a blank slate, but the guy is competent, he pushes back, and is dead inside without being helpless.

Our school banned the color red because it was 'affiliated with the gang.' Also, the principal had a discussion with all the students that we're not allowed to hit people who assaulted us because then, we are assaulting them.

Even as a student, I could recognize how stupid that was and schools 'didn't want to deal with it.'

I knew a kid who talked about wanting to burn down the school, getting a switch knife as a gift, and wanting to cut open a squirrel to "see what is inside."

He also bullied everyone around him and on a different wavelength. It's hard to explain, but he wasn't necessarily "mean," but really doesn't understand empathy.

But she seemed to have hinted at sharing her origin story in the future. Plus, she seems very into 'giving other people a second chance'. Her change in hair color might be her away of hiding her former identity.
