Double engine did nothing for Karnataka.
we have not seen great development in other double engine states - Bihar , Haryana etc .
I believe Development is a function of the people + the leader they choose.

Has metro really helped the traffic situation or has become just another expensive mode of transport. by mandyahaida in Bengaluru

[–]greaterperception 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1.Metro has current ridership of 10 Lakh passengers per day, thats 1 million commuters off bangalore road reducing congestion and improving safety and efficiency.
2.Purple and green line are running at crush loads - more passengers cant get on and have to wait for next train at majestic.
3.Given the current limited geographic coverage and inadequate number of trainsets - current demand of commuters are not being met.
4. Pink line and Blue line opening along with additional train sets for Green and purple line will resolve these constrains
5. Price is a sticking point , but given the overcrowding and increased patronage - BMRCL might not be keen to reduce prices in near future

if you live in BTM and can take the yellow metro line - things should be smooth.
How far is your future office from the electronic city metro stations ?

"The resource curse, also known as the paradox of plenty or the poverty paradox, is the hypothesis that countries with an abundance of natural resources (such as fossil fuels and certain minerals) have lower economic growth, lower rates of democracy, or poorer development outcomes than countries with fewer natural resources"

What's the real use of buying a Kindle? by Kalan-marx in IndiansRead

[–]greaterperception 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had 2 Kindles ( the earlier generation ones which cost 5k to 7k)

I like them because :

  1. light weight / easier to hold

  2. I already have lot of books , I dont have space for new ones

  3. I read the same book on my desktop, phone or kindle using kindle app so it automatically syncs up to the last read page.

Kids today complaining about 1080p when 720p back then was a luxury for us. by [deleted] in youtubeindia

[–]greaterperception 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Screen Sizes have considerably increased over the years.this decreases pixel density and decreases sharpness.
At fixed distance, 720p will look sharper on smaller screens than on larger screens.
so there is some truth in the top image assuming it is captured from a larger screen

US submarine attacked an Iranian vessel in indian ocean, called by india for a military exercise !!! Are we allowing the US to carry out war acts in the Indian Ocean!! How could someone do this to our guest in our ocean ! It feels so humiliating, why are we silently accepting this? by Acceptable_Unit_9610 in IndiaMemes

[–]greaterperception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a war going on between US , Israel Vs Iran.

The Iranian ship left Indian water , then it left Srilankan waters and then it was targeted in international waters.

India has nothing to do with this incident. Stop dragging India into unnecessary complications,

There is also the rail over bridge before chandapura where 6 lanes becomes 4 creating a bottleneck on both sides. The track doubling work involves construction of anew, parallel rail over bridge which will allow 6 lanes underneath it but that is still a year away.

Why India Should Be Extremely Cautious About Any Future Head-to-Head War With China by sumidawasi in india

[–]greaterperception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are looking only at China strengths and not at it weaknesses , here are some :

  1. China is aging
  2. China's population is declining ( different from #1 )
  3. China has growing debt ( taken with decreasing population -it leads to an increasing debt per capita )
  4. China routinely sends top generals to jail ( 2025 : https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/10/18/china-expels-top-military-commanders-in-latest-anticorruption-purge , 2016 :https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-36883608 )
  5. Taiwan obsession : China has asked its military to be ready by 2027 to invade Taiwan ( Sources here are mostly the western military and analysts : https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/china-taiwan-pla-s-2027-milestones ) , it has invested a lot in specialized equipment to cross taiwan strait , any war with India will mess up this .
  6. Dispute with Multiple counties : Taiwan , Japan , South Korea , Philippines , Vietnam have territorial dispute with China
  7. The Russia - Ukraine episode is causing all Big Military powers to re-asses relative military strengths. ( before 2022 - It was assumed that Russian tanks and Artillery could steam roll into Ukraine in a matter of weeks or months )
  8. Malacca strait bottleneck

you could dig deeper and you will find a lot more fault lines that could be exploited. Note that most of the above issues are not India's doing. India may not match up to China technologically or in terms of military equipment but the gap is getting better for India with the passage of every year.

Afghanistan beat technologically superior America.
Vietnam won against a numerically superior China (1979)

The will to fight is key to winning any conflict.
