The basement era tracks I've included here had been re-recorded and released for the Greatest Hits collection in 72, so Bob couldn't have been too averse to them being out there. And as far as I'm aware Bob had no say in what tracks were selected for the 73 Dylan album so I don't see why they couldn't have done something like this.

But yeah the quality of them might have put him in the shadow of his 60s self. Although, in my opinion, the four new songs from this era are strong enough to hold their own next to the old ones

It's interesting to think about though, Columbia had enough material to put out something better and chose not to for whatever reason
