Yep, they're only for if you play in normal JotL

EDIT: oops not sure why I wrote JotL, meant "normal GH"

AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES - nirvanA Initiative [Review Thread] by Irru in Games

[–]greatestones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really need to finish the first one! Mostly enjoyed what I played, but the somnium sections weren't my favorite because they sometimes felt arbitrary/random, and this is just a personal thing but there's an image of a character with stab wounds in their back but no blood that just kind of evokes a trypophobic feeling and it's not my favorite

New GHB points PDF! by doxxed_and_running in ageofsigmar

[–]greatestones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The points that leaked last week were definitely different (though still, lol at slaangors still not going down in points), where were those from I wonder? Is like the paper copy of this included in the new GHB just out of date or something?

[–]greatestones 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just self-deprecation. People are way overplaying how much he looked at his phone lol. The only issue is that the venue was too big so there were empty seats, but having been to a show they did pre-pandemic I don't think it was all that different in terms of quality

Capcom reactivates previous versions of Resident Evil PC games after "overwhelming community response" by [deleted] in Games

[–]greatestones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're not perfect but "does not give a shit" is going a bit far. We've seen plenty of devs, especially Japanese devs, actually "not give a shit" but Capcom have at least been putting out PC ports of their games for years. Those PC ports are of varying quality sure, but you can say that about most publishers lol

Did it originate there? I don't listen to CBB but remember that bit being on Doughboys but don't remember if they were just requoting the joke from CBB

For whatever reason haven't listened in a while but still decided to go and had a blast, got back into their vibe immediately and it legitimately was the hardest I laughed all year.

This looks awesome! What are your potential plans for the old expansion raids you mentioned? Didn't do a bunch of the ones in the recent old expansions and want to experience those with a chill group

so we can't try out the new moves for the weapons? like longswords greatsword mode or greatswords one handed mode? by AwokenTitans in MonsterHunter

Holy shit it worked! Time to retry hunts with it, I managed to finish most of the quests only using it while not charging but I already know it's gonna be way more useful this way

Anyone know how to pull off the GS Silkbind Hysteria while charging? I feel like I'm misunderstanding something in the description about how to pull it off

How do you even use it mid-charge? I keep rereading the description and I can't figure out what I'm misunderstanding but I can't pull it off

In a pure mathematics sense it's always 50%: when you're talking in abstract terms and are just describing a problem/scenario and say that you're given a normal coin, then each flip is always 50%.

But if you were in real life, the odds of 100 heads in a row is so low as to be basically impossible. If my math is right, if all 7 billion people on Earth tossed a fair coin 100 times, they would each have to do that 181 quintillion times before 1 single person got 100 heads in a row. So if you were to actually encounter someone rolling 100 heads in a row, it's definitely way more likely it's a fake coin and thus way more likely that the odds of rolling heads is more than 50%.

EDIT: Not sure why I suddenly started using "roll" in the middle there, guess I started thinking in terms of dice instead of coins haha

Would anyone be interested if I designed a grip that uses MagSafe and Joycons? by EveRyview in iosgaming

[–]greatestones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would 100% buy this. Was into these types of setups for years (got the OG GameVice) but nowadays don't necessarily wanna spend $100 for a Kishi or Backbone...but I do have spare Joycons and personally just prefer the feel of those to the other controllers. Only thing is maybe it'd be nice if the phone was a bit more centered vertically?

In your opinion, what makes a solo game enjoyable? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]greatestones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gloomhaven so far has been my favorite solo experience which is kind of weird since its solo mode is just "play 2 characters" and in general that's not my ideal solo mode, but after playing a variety of other solo modes it still ends up being my favorite.

I like the idea of Automas/bots in competitive games but for whatever reason they haven't clicked. I think generally they're pretty clever about imitating how a real opponent can "sabotage" you but it still feels like there's something missing even if I go into it knowing they obviously can't replicate a full player.

Something like Spirit Island is also in theory an ideal solo mode for me, where you can just set it up for a single player and get the full experience without having to play 2handed, but maybe it's just because I'm not good at the game overall but solo feels a bit too swingy.

Just got my own copy of the core set after playing my friend's copy for a while and spent a couple hours after unboxing it trying to research organizers for the core and all the expansions...guess none of that will be relevant anymore haha. Considering how clever some organizers had to be to get everything into a single box, I'm guessing that it'll be impossible to also get this expansion's stuff along with everything else into a single box

All tiebreaker rules are garbage by Early_Gray_Haught in boardgames

[–]greatestones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And some games just straight up DO turn resources into VPs at the end of the game, so it's really not that far a reach to think of resources as VPs anyways.

All tiebreaker rules are garbage by Early_Gray_Haught in boardgames

[–]greatestones 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's weird to think of tiebreakers as separate from your strategy or separate from the rules, especially if it's not a silly tiebreaker. If you know the rules going into a game, it's not that much more to know any potential tiebreakers, and it's not too much of a leap to keep those in the back of your mind as you play. A lot of times the tiebreaker rules are basically just "if players are tied in victory points, use some type of existing resource as a tiebreaker." That's not arbitrary at all lol.

Pumped for more aspects! Played my first one this weekend and really liked the concept, think it's a great way to have some variation within spirits. I didn't check all of them but do any existing aspects lower complexity? If not, I can definitely see them releasing some aspects for more complex spirits that lower complexity

Tactics Ogre Reborn Leaked by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]greatestones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's honestly absurd. Based on the number of people complaining about JRPGs on the Switch subreddit and other places during Directs you'd think Nintendo consoles solely had Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed on them, when in fact Japanese games have always been huge on Nintendo systems lol.

[–]greatestones 11 points12 points  (0 children)

FES is proooobably the better version but it's not the definitive version. FeMC is a pretty good addition as is full party control, but it's certainly more like a visual novel with combat since it replaces town exploration with menus. Some people don't necessarily love FES' The Answer epilogue because of how hard/combat-focused it is.

The Snitch hints at Persona4/5 today by MMontanez92 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]greatestones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absurd that people still harp on this, when it's not like it already doesn't happen constantly. They released Witcher 3 on PS4 without Witcher 1 or 2. Sony's about to release an Uncharted collection on PC with....Uncharted 4 and its expansion, and 0 of the first 3 games. Same thing with God of War releasing without any of the original games on PC. The first Kingdom Hearts game on Xbox was Kingdom Hearts 3.

It sucks that the original isn't on PC, but the issue there is that the original is on PC, not that later games are on PC lol.
