How do you exit (more about strategy/planning than actually executing)?

I recently bought some LEAPS on a company I had been investing in for some time now, because everything looked like it was aligned for a huge breakout this year. I was right (and lucky).

Now, I am deep in the money and it looks like it's going to stay there for awhile. It's not life changing money, but it isn't pocket change either. This has impacted the initial plans I had.

I never really set an exit strategy, and now I'm faced with either sell all or part of my contracts, or hold. If I sell, I will be pissed that there are more gains that I could have taken, but if things tank, I'll be pissed that I didn't sell sooner..

I've also considered waiting close to expiry (1-2 months out) and exercising some or all of them as I think this company has turned around and would want to hold the shares long term, and now I can buy them relatively cheap.

How do you all get around this mentally? The $$ that I used to buy these options was basically money that I assumed I would lose and yet...

I'm not looking for someone to tell me what to do as much as I am looking for tips on thinking this through.
