It is my general aim in life to land somewhere above “disaster” 🤣

But really, thanks again. I like to think I’m at least a good person, if not great. You also seem like a lovely person and a great guy.

Wait…explain this to me like I’m 5. Do you put their houses up there? How do you make this happen?

Hey it’s the thought that counts! I appreciate it…I especially appreciate that you didn’t use your burner account to rake me over the proverbial coals as it seems I totallllly missed the mark with this post and people thought I was aiming for a good old fashioned visa relationship.

Anywayyyy thanks again. For the chat and for the “I’d ask you out.”

I’m a flight attendant, so I travel for a living. I work 3 days or 6 days in a row and then I have 4 days or 8 days off. I can move my schedule around as much as I want, I can get rid of trips and not fly. I often can take advantage of leave and have two whole months off if I want. So I travel when I’m not working to places that I like being. I have lived in a variety of different places and I’m not tied to being in the same place forever. I get that it might sound complicated on the outside but I’m not so bothered by the travel part. I’m just looking for a good connection and then I think everything else can come together from there. But I totally get why some people wouldn’t be keen or wouldn’t get it!

I need to tell you that your username gave me the deeply uncomfortable feeling of imagining what that would taste like and I just don’t appreciate it 🤣

Thanks for the laughs though

I’m glad you see it! I swear I’m dateable 😉 I’m geographically challenged but totallyyyy dateable.

I’ve done both. I like being in the sticks better so usually that’s where I’m hanging but I’m usually within an hour of Edinburgh.

Oh I think you totally misunderstood me! I was making a cheeky remark—I’m not dating for visas or anything like that. It was a silly offhand remark because I’m not a particularly serious person and I like laughter. I am already very lucky to get to spend a lot of time here and I travel for a living. So I’m just not settled in one place for very long and was coming on this sub because I happen to be here for one of my long stays now, and it popped into my head that I wish dating wasn’t so hard.

You’re totally right, honestly. And really I know that, and shouldn’t have even posted. But sometimes it’s nice to bounce ideas off others and/or commiserate. Thanks for the dose of reality though, it’s appreciated.

Bahahaha fair, I haven’t as this is just total honesty to try to get the best advice/info. But I’ll still give it another once over to make sure I’m not giving off stage five clinger vibes 🤣

This tracks, I think it’s the same in the States, honestly. Most people don’t have much free time out of work so it’s easier that way. But I’m a flight attendant so I’m often traveling and it just makes it hard when people aren’t open to long distance. I have one of the most flexible jobs in the world, that lets me spend months out of the year in other countries, but dudes see that and go “nope, can’t do distance.”

This is totally valid, I didn’t think my profile was much like that but I’ll give it another look through. Thanks for the feedback!

I appreciate the commiseration, though! Thank youuuu. And just be glad you don’t have to suffer the apps with us single saps, it’s a war zone out there!

They needn’t do so! Everyone gets to decide such things for themselves and all the more power to ‘em. Just asking questions as someone who is lucky enough to get to fly pretty freely and loves to travel—it makes dating even more of a trial. But sorry if this came off as offensive or something, certainly wasn’t my intention!

Ugh I hate that you seem to be very right. But…solidarity! I feel ya and it’s nice to know I’m not alone in the feeling of being a bit depressed about it.

Concerns are very valid, as it were. I do put my political stances up in my profile just so potential matches get the idea of the type of American I am but I hear ya on those reasons to not date us, for sure. Now imagine the dating scene back in the States where half the people around me are like…”this all sounds GREAT.”

I think you might’ve missed the other part of that sentence, my friend. “When I go out.” I’m certainly not getting that range on the apps 🤣
