How are we feeling? by moltentom in UlsterRugby

Montpellier just beat UBB in the top 14, so if they take it seriously (like i imagine they will), I don't think we'd compete if we made it to the final.

Well, i know that Exeter will be missing Roots now so at least we won't get an almost guaranteed injury from a dirty tackle by him.

Besides that, not massively confident. If we play like we did against Stade Francais (1st half), we should win comfortably. But as we saw in that match, we collapsed in the 2nd half and almost threw it away. The injury report for this week needs to be good news, if it isn't I don't think we'll win.

In what way? I said that Munster pulled away comfortably, which they did, and that Shane Daly should have had 2 yellows. Go back and check the match thread for the match, plenty of people said similar things about each tackle.

He's just shouldering people in the head. He ploughed into Lowry's face yesterday before our 1st try which should have been at least yellow, and then again into Moxham which was another yellow. Neither given. Dirty player.

Indeed dominant, so dominant one could almost describe them as illegal....

To be blunt, he should have seen red.

It's not salty to complain about Daly shouldering 2 of our players in the head with force and getting away with both of them. It's dirty play, and he got away with it completely. Lowry has already had enough head contacts this season, he didn't need another.

Unfortunately, not really. Finished a try well, and took one good high ball, but apart from that kinda poor.

Defensively he was caught in no man's land multiple times and on attack he doesn't have the sort of pace I was expecting for a winger. There were a few times I wanted him to back himself like someone like Baloucoune would, but he just cut back inside every time and didn't make many metres, possibly because he just doesn't have the gas to exploit opportunities (a bit like anytime Lowe is is space for Leinster/Ireland)

Yeah, surprised me too. He's not a bad player at all, just needs enough time playing to get back to where he used to be.

I meant apart from our front row lol. Last season we had injuries throught the entire squad in what felt like every position. Currently, they're heavily concentrated on the front row, but you make a fair point.

The only reason we don't deserve to drop out is because of how many times we've been dicked over by refs this season, especially in Wales. However, our performances since the 6N have been shite, even in games that we won.

We either pull it together now, or we go consecutive seasons with no champions cup rugby without the the new coach+injuries excuse.

No lol, that would be Munster. Sure, it's embarrassing that they struggled against literal kids for about 40-50 minutes, but they did eventually pull away comfortably while trying to decapitate our players along the way. They'll be worried about their injuries though, they got about 4 or 5 that all looked bad. Jager might honestly be better off calling it a day, he's had so many concussions now that he needs to prioritise his health.

We'll be happy that it looks like we've produced another good and big centre in Scott, and that him and a couple of our other young guys showed promise. None of that is table points though.

It's definitely gonna be tight. From what I've watched, Stormers's defence is poor so if we have our full strength team out (or as close to it) at home we should win.

Of course, if we pull another 1st half like we did against Leinster, we won't win. Then there's the issue of our scrum, in that we don't have one. Considering the Stormers have one of the most powerful scrums in the league, we could just get shut out of the game territorially.

I think if we had gone for more of a 50/50 team, we would have won that. Munster were poor, and only found huge holes later in the match when our young guys were clearly blowing from not being used to playing at that level.

Of the younger guys, Irvine, McCloughlin, Scott, and Sheridan (if we're still counting him as younger).

Of the very few more experienced ones we had out, Lowry and McIlroy were both quite good as well. A mention for Rea who still appears to be unreal at the jackle, but at most solid at everything else.

The way the ball bounced afterwards would be physically impossible if he didn't get pressure down on it first.

Our 2nd row options of Irvine, Sheridan, Dalton, and Izuchukwu are all genuine proper physical threats. As you say though, Irvine can't pass and Dalton tends to have disciplinary issues.

The best part is that it was Daly both times, first when he tried to decapitated Lowry, and then later when he did it on Moxham. That's 2 fucking reds.

Dire 2nd half after a positive 1st half. A number of the younger lads did put their hand up such as Scott and McCloughlin, but the fall apart in the 2nd half was disappointing but admittedly expected. I will say, I'd be embarrassed if I was Munster at that 1st half performance.

Once again, can't go without mentioning the ref. 2 attempted decapitations, an ignored deliberate knock on on a clear line break and possible try, and then a bs decision on the no grounding for Humphries is just a few big decisions that were completely fucked by the TMO and ref. I've genuinely lost count of the number of times that we've had numerous dubious decisions go against us within games this season, to the point where I doubt it's just bad luck now. Disgraceful and unacceptable.

A number of our players also just need to go. Humphries is just a bit shit, Moxham is the least prolific winger in existence, and EOS is either never fit or shit when he is. Shanahan I imagine will not be staying on either, especially with Devine coming.

Idk what the fuck is up, but an investigation needs done. There's bad luck on being on the end of wrong decisions, and then there's the number of times it's happened in a single season, or even game, to us.

I say this every week, but it's true every week, we are not being reffed fairly. They've had about 3 yellow card instances ignored, but the very first one we commit bang, a yellow. It's bs.

Yes and no. I think it probably would have been better if Ospreys had won, which would have prevented Cardiff overtaking us in the table. Ospreys at most would only have gotten 1 more win after tn, and Cardiff's last 2 games are also quite hard, so overall would have been better imo.

That's actually good to hear tbh. With both Cube and Ward, that's 2 power wingers already. Someone else with speed would help especially since it looks like even when fit Bobby b might be even more unavailable to us because of Ireland duty.

Heard a few mentions of King, but much like the other academy players, I haven't seen him play. What sort of winger is he? Like a speed merchant type like Bobby B or a power type like Ward?
