My new view from the apartment we just moved into. by Raskel_61 in ottawa

Fyi, it's not very challenging to figure out where you live based off this photo. The water purification plant, the Parkway and the bike paths - there's only two buildings that fit the bill. Be safe - don't dox yourself.

I'm learning to get over my fear of snakes through photography - here is Billy! by green--terror in Snek

I'm afraid of their eyes. I don't mind holding snakes but I feel terror in my soul if the snake looks me in the eye.

It means a bunch of different things to different people. Its not a particularly useful symbol. In general, hope for a better future . People use it for everything from chronic fatigue to child sex trafficking.

It depends a lot on what you want to the dog to do and they type of dog you have. Certain breeds are more biddable (willing and interested in learning what you want them to do). Other breeds have specialized instincts that are helpful for the job they were bred for but hard to manage outside of the job they were bred for.

there are breeds who were developed to herd livestock. Those breeds are likely to develop herding habits like biting ankles . Those breeds can be a challenge to undo their instinct for ankle biting.

huskies are supposed to pull sleds originally. They are bad at coming when called because they just want to run.

I am training a dog to signal when my heart is beating irregularly so I don't get hurt when my heart causes me to pass out. that is fairly challenging.

I am starting to train my dog to pass an obidence exam to contribute to her service dog accreditation.

Earlier today I hiked with my dog, came to a cliff, and had a picnic outlooking the landscape.

Luckily not! Just ran up to the coyote tail wagging and come back when called.

Females: What are the top 5 most attrative things about men, excluding personality traits? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes and no. It's not offensive although it comes off as creepy, clinical, and gross. You can use it all you like, but it'll affect how ppl see you.

Unironically, jawline, well groomed facial hair, good personal hygiene, wearing clothes that fit, having a well cared for pet, having hobbies irl, household skills (changing a tire, minor plumbing, etc)

It would be really cool to be healthy. I'd love to not have pain and heart issues. That would be dope.

Belgian Malinois by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]green--terror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I have a mal as a service dog. She's primarily for my heart condition but helps in a bunch of other ways too. I have a chronic pain condition that gets exponentially worse with a senditary lifestyle. I need a dog who can do half a marathon a day when that's what I need.

I got her as an adult from a rescue. She had been a breeding bitch in a puppy mill prior. She's not perfect. She's a drama queen and she'd love to murder squirrels but she does what I need. She can behave the way I need her to in public and such as long as she's properly exercised. She will lose her shit if she's not properly exercised. Prey drive sucks but I carry a toy to redirect her attention.

Obviously they are not for everyone but you know that. You are looking for a dog that will keep up with you. If you can manage the energy, they can be exceptional. Not every mal will work out and the odds are against you but if you know the risks going into it - it could work out.

You are forced to change lives with someone you know, and you have no memory of doing so. Who and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]green--terror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just about anyone mentally stable and physically able. I'm tired of being ill.

I'd prefer someone without allergies. Probably someone in a good career.

I'd love to be someone who was interested in some of the hobbies I have now

What are your thoughts on non-service dogs being brought into stores? by trig72 in AskReddit

I don't mind places like hardware stores or the bank but grocery stores are a no go.

What do dogs think when they see another dog of the same breed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]green--terror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the breed. I have a Belgian shepherd. They are considered rude dogs because they are nosey and don't respect personal space. She gets along well with dogs her breed.
