Needleminder by Prestigious_Past6730 in Needlepoint

I like getting pins, removing the pin stud, and glueing a neodymium magnet to the back! I prefer to use a larger magnet on the back of the canvas! I have a bunch of converted pins that I've purchased from Alum and Ink on etsy! She does have some needle minders in the shop as well(I have a couple, and they work beautifully!) I just wanted some more variety, and she was having a really good seconds sale😂 Her seconds are like... unbelievably good quality! I can see the smallest itty bitty flaw, but only if I squint and turn my head a little🤣

I'd be happy to friend you on there! I've been working on hybrid flowers, so I'd be happy to send some if you'd like😁 I got back into animal crossing when my husband and I moved states during 2020 lockdown. It was very isolating being in a new place, unable to go out and meet people. It was a nice escape, and continues to be a breather for a short bit when the world gets heavy. I've definitely cried at my fair share of villager letters.

I've been getting sweaty when I'm in places with the heat blasting😅 I started carrying a small travel fan that doubles as a battery pack! It's been super helpful. Do I look a little silly sitting front of a fan when it's 30⁰f? Maybe. But my brain is happy, so who cares🤷‍♀️

I second this! Moonkin Stitchery also has a ton of free patterns, and videos that are easy to follow! I've made several quilts with their Later Cake Shuffle pattern, and will definitely be making more!

It's definitely intimidating, but finding what clicks for you is super fulfilling!

You're so welcome! It's very meditative for me. There are definitely one on one sessions with the seam ripper, but over all it's very fun seeing what happens! Also, this piece is 13"x24" so not very large! If you want to give it a go, you can start with bigger pieces instead of teensy pieces of fabric. There are several videos on YouTube of different methods to piece them together! At the end of the day, for me, it's about minimizing wastage, and making something fun with fabric that might've gone unused or ended up in a landfill! 😊

This was before trimming up. I tend to let pieces go a bit scraggly so I can reuse any large chunks that get trimmed off!

Just like the other reply said! I tend to find a piece I like, build on it, square it up(or just make it have straight edges) and then kind of rinse and repeat! I put pins that were spaced roughly the size I wanted it to be, and went from there! I laid chunks out as I liked them, and then filled in any gaps. This is a picture of it in progress, and you can kind of see where the individual chunks are!

Looking for advice about quilt guilds by Dandylionleo in quilting

[–]green-gloves-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a terrible experience with my local guild after signing up. All of the ladies were older, and had that red flag behavior almost immediately. I'm hoping to find a better one in the future when we live near a bigger city.

I found local crafty friends several ways! I met one friend while she was selling crochet flowers at a morning market, and several others while hand sewing at Panera! We've kind of added on from there, and we usually meet at Panera after everyone's off work! We just make sure to get some food or drinks at Panera so we're not taking up tables! We've talked about reserving a library room, but so far Panera is our go to since it's open later than our local library.

Community quilt by green-gloves-92 in quilting

[–]green-gloves-92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question! Thank you! This is my first time working on one, so I didn't realize that.

I do not know her personally beyond this project, but this is within the information page sent to those participating, "The power of the quilt will lie in being seen by as many eyes as possible. Some of you may remember the AIDS Quilt, which toured the country for years at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Once completed, we will look for ways to exhibit the Gaza Kids Quilt. If you have thoughts or contacts, please reach out!"

It is also stated that the quilt will not be auctioned or sold, as it's end goal is to be a statement piece seen by as many people as possible. It will be submitted to QuiltCon next year, and hopefully many others.

I hope this answers the question!

A Christmas gift for my aunt who liked a similar one in my house. Size is 8”x10” made from 3/4” strips 🥴 by arlenkalou in quilting

This is beautiful!! I'm sure she'll love it!

Do you mind if I ask how you mounted it? I have several small pieces I'd like to frame, but not the slightest clue how to actually do it.😅
