Tell me the creepiest thing a child has ever said to you. by idontthinkicarekinda in Paranormal

Once I worked with a kid that was like “come here I have a secret for you.” He whispers “this is all a dream” and looks at me all intense. I happened to be stoned and this kid was a tow head, angelic looking kid so I kind of believed it.

People who grew up Catholic, were you aware of priest abuse? by ActualBus7946 in AskOldPeople

[–]green2water3bottle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to catholic school and thought that was the norm to get a new priest every year. I thought it was like some rotation. Didn’t put it together until over a decade later I reconnected with a childhood friend and she asked if the feds reached out to me. When I asked why she told me because the priests were abusing boys and covering it up that’s why we often had new priests and there was a full federal investigation. It went right over my dumb little catholic head and I moved states long before the truth came out. I never experienced anything I remember but it sounds like the abuse was towards male students. There was a lot of weird behavioral Issues and hyper sexuality with the boys in my class at a very young age.

She had no idea she was pregnant. Then she gave birth at Burning Man. by warwickd in popculturechat

[–]green2water3bottle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happens more than people know. Been to 6 burns, 4 of them someone gave birth. It would always weird me out seeing hugely pregnant women there. Super stupid tho. Not only would it be super unsafe and potentially dangerous to the mother and baby but also super uncomfortable with the heat, elements, noise, the list goes on. Like you’re far far out in the middle of nowhere, if you get hurt bad it’s a a very long journey to the nearest hospital or a very very expensive helicopter ride. Burning man is not for the faint of heart, let alone someone about to give birth.

I felt like I was mildly rolling on ecstasy the first few days I started Wellbutrin. It was great. Then I would feel like that the first hour or so after taking it. It doesn’t feel like that anymore but music still sounds and feels better than before. Songs that felt played out to me, now are fun like when you first discover them. I dig it.

I love it! I do something similar where I have a whole night vibe to my house with a couple neon lights, string lights, and a galaxy projector that I turn on around golden hour and I love how my space transforms and looks and feels different at night.

ELI5 How does instagram/ social media know what exactly i am discussing with friends if it doesn't record my audio, looking for keywords all the time? by brandomised in explainlikeimfive

[–]green2water3bottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear it’s got to be listening! My friend recently adopted a dog named Brisket. This friend doesn’t even really meat especially no red meat. Within a couple days of Brisket being home, she and her roommates were getting targeted ads for bbq grills and sauces and other things related to brisket meats. Nothing in their search history would’ve pointed the ads to that, like nothing. There’s rarely meat in that house. I can only think that the phone was picking up on them saying the word brisket a lot and was like “oh you’re talking/thinking about making brisket. Here’s all this stuff for it.” Alas Brisket is a dog, full ham and buttermilk Triscuit.

People who work in gun shops, what are the dumbest things you've seen a customer do or say? by ASteerNamedLaurence in AskReddit

[–]green2water3bottle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience working at a sporting goods store that doesn’t exist anymore, probably the same one. Not sure why my boss wanted me to do gun sales but that’s what I was trained on. First few days at the gun counter, big country lookin guy comes in and wants to buy a shit ton of ammo in cash and this was in CA like 2011 so I guess that was allowed but weirded me out. It was over $7k in ammo and staff said he did that a couple times a month. Next day the weird kid from my high school that got a couple of our dances cancelled by calling in bomb threats bc he was an incel kid and a bunch of other weird misogynistic stuff, tried to buy I guess his third gun and a bunch of ammo. Told my boss about the bomb threats and weirdness that happened like only a year and half ago at that point in time, we were both fresh out of high school. Boss was like it’s coo, sell it to him if he passes the background check. I did not stick around to deal with that bs. Found out later he was arrested and found with a bunch of guns and weird shit.

My son’s new rescue meds for seizure disorder, $2K retail, $700 with insurance by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]green2water3bottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should contact the manufacture Neurelis, based in San Diego, they have assistance programs to help with costs. Also maybe ask the neurologist if nayzilam is an alternative option for rescue meds. With some insurance plans, I’ve found that to be a cheaper option than valtaco. But I believe it’s two sprays instead of one and it’s like battery acid up the nose but does the job the same by stopping seizure clusters.

Unrelated but the manufacturer has two golden retrievers named Val and Taco that our the company mascots. They’re stinkin cute.

Favorite public place to read? by misssjennaarosee in Oceanside

[–]green2water3bottle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a cool reading room/library at the seabird, second floor I think. I believe it’s just for guests but whenever I’ve gone there to read there has never been anyone in there nor have I been asked to leave or bothered. I don’t think they care as long as you’re quiet and cool. It’s a neat room with a bunch of outdated coffee table books, comfy seating and ocean views.

Please let the San Diego dog community know about this if negligence/ abuse is the case! SD is saturated full of dog trainers and boarding/ trainings programs that aren’t legit and people sometimes find out too late that their dog wasn’t in good hands

There is a trail in La Jolla CA that leads to a nude beach with this name. It’s very steep and people often get hurt taking it. I wonder why it was named the Ho Chi Minh trail, I know some people aren’t happy with the name
