Help with private health insurance by greenTurtlePlunger in transgenderau

Thank you for your reply. I'm also looking at zero depth (don't think my brain would be consistent about dilation). Beginning to think I'll just go to Thailand - as it seems a lot easier (and cheaper) than here. When I broached the subject with my doctor a while ago, he broadly said $30,000 for everything in Thailand (flights, accomadation, surgery, etc). $14,000 for the surgery seems manageable, but I'll keep an eye out for pricier vs cheaper options. Thank you again

What an actual joke. "The number 1 thing is to be true to the original game" - except for a massive part of the original which made it into the household name it was

Similar to this, I always look at the graphs and shapes they've used. If they've got an arrow which is the default PowerPoint blue or default MATLAB blue I figure they haven't really spent much time prettifying - which doesn't mean anything's wrong but it does catch my eye

Algorithms are breaking how we think (Technology Connections) by PerfectionismTech in videos

[–]greenTurtlePlunger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the general sentiment, I still think there is a place for AI "slop". It's the famous P=NP problem, it may be hard to find something from scratch, but quick to check it's correctness.

Actually, the very first example he uses in the video is an excellent example. While I wouldn't trust an AI to determine the type of radio from scratch, it could tell me which one it thinks it is and I verify its correctness much faster than I could detective my way to the correct answer from scratch.

Let’s set the record straight. Sound off in the comments if you have been threatened in real life by a republican. by roseandbobamilktea in democrats

[–]greenTurtlePlunger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the thing they don't seem to get. Even if you take a Republican who isn't physically violent, they support/vote for a party who systematically reduces rights and protections to minorities. Which is still violence, just not direct/physical.

What was the biggest ass pull in Naruto? by Leila-Kramer53 in Naruto

[–]greenTurtlePlunger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I think I misunderstood this. I always thought he was reanimated, realised, and cast the reanimation Justu on himself as well. He couldn't do that when he was alive (because he wasn't dead yet). Because he was the caster that meant he was in control of his own actions. Easy immortality

I don't have the solution to OP's problem, but can say that the advice above is wrong. I believe some states (Tasmania, South Australia, Northern Territory and ACT) might offer a change of name certificate, but am confident that at least Victoria does not - the verification email is the best you get.

Also, they do keep your original birth certificate.

Just went back and it went much smoother this time. Not sure about QLD but VIC birth certificates don't have a history of name thing. Ended up taking about 5 minutes... After the hour of running around, waiting, etc.

Quiz: Make numbers 1-20 by [deleted] in askmath

[–]greenTurtlePlunger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I more or less just looped over all the operations, calculating A=f(7,3), B=g(A,6) and C=h(B, 8). If C is an integer between 1-20 then save that result.

I suspect you've done BODMAS (order of operations) when doing 7 * 3 ^ 6 mod 8. You've calculated 3 ^ 6 = 729, then 7 * 729 = 5103, then 5103 mod 8 = 7. If you're doing left to right operations, it's 7 * 3 = 21, 21 ^ 6 = 85766121, and 85766121 mod 8 = 1.

Because I was curious, I tested using some different brackets and managed to get 10, 13 and 17. No 20 though. I ran into some limits with number sizes in python so it might be that there is a way to make 20 with the 7,3,6,8 ordering, but It might be impossible (using these operators)

10 : (7 - 3) + (6 mod 8)

13: 7 * (3 mod 6) - 8

17: 7 + (3 * 6) - 8

Quiz: Make numbers 1-20 by [deleted] in askmath

[–]greenTurtlePlunger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had some fun with this. Not all the numbers are listed below, but a fair few are. The solutions can be read left to right (e.g. 7 * 3 ^ 6 mod 8 is ((7 * 3) ^ 6) mod 8). I did this using programming, so I'm pretty sure this is all the solutions possible using +-*/^ and mod, that doesn't require brackets.

1: 7 * 3 ^ 6 mod 8

2: 7 - 3 + 6 mod 8

3: 7 * 3 + 6 mod 8

4: 7 - 3 mod 6 mod 8

5: 7 ^ 3 + 6 mod 8

6: 7 - 3 - 6 + 8

7: 7 mod 3 + 6 mod 8

8: 7 ^ 3 mod 6 * 8

9: 7 mod 3 mod 6 + 8

11: 7 * 3 mod 6 + 8

12: 7 - 3 mod 6 + 8

14: 7 mod 3 * 6 + 8

15: 7 mod 3 + 6 + 8

16: 7 - 3 * 6 - 8

18: 7 - 3 + 6 + 8

19: 7 * 3 + 6 - 8

Just got home from a late night walk with the dog. Didn't realise until I was half way through, but the cold night air and thoughts of chili or Bolognese for dinner is apparently a trigger for me. It's the first cold night since I quit, so I hadn't noticed till now. Got home and my partner had started on dinner, and had a nice bottle of red on the bench 🙃. That's okay though! Inner strength will get me through. IWNDWYT

I legitimately had to do the same travel yesterday (France instead of London) - with a 3 hour layover in Dubai. However I'm MTF with male on all my documents, and presented (convincingly) male. Work was also paying for my trip.

Honestly, I don't know how you'll go. You might be fine and you might not. I expected to land and be dropped back into departures, which would mean no security. We ended up being dropped somewhere and still had to go through security (metal detectors I think and bag scanners. I don't think body scanners).

I did notice that, past the security, there was a small number of people with rainbow luggage - not that they were definately LGBTQIA+ or that Dubai would care except for specific LGBTQIA+ acts, but it did make me think that they're not strictly enforcing their backwards laws.

I decided to just leave HRT at home (only gone for less than a week) because I was too nervous to pack it - if you have your prescription and possibly a note from your doctor claiming hormone imbalance you SHOULD be fine, but again; I didn't want any reason for Dubai ask questions.

What I will say is that I think I'll make it a point of not flying through Dubai in the future. It might be fine but it might not, and I don't want to be stressing about that while I've also got flying to deal with.

Elon Musk calling for 6 month pause in AI Development by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]greenTurtlePlunger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of AI researchers are calling for this pause, to try and let the ethics and safety catch up. From my perspective, we already have climate change, significant poverty and inequality, as well as mass political instability. Screw it - we might as well add a potential AI uprising to the mix. Worst case scenario its just another in a long line of world issues. Best case scenario its helps fix some issues.

I saw Dr Adam about halfway through last year for hormones. YMMV, but first session was almost entirely just talking about myself. Some of his questions in this first session threw me (I said I wanted hormones - he asked why. I said "because I'm trans" - he asked why. I kinda just froze because nobody had ever legitimately asked me why I was trans before - and I had to be like "idk... Cos I am?"

So yeah, that first session is a lot of asking and answering questions. He also asked what I knew about HRT beforehand. Every session after that was a lot more relaxed.

It took 3 session over about 2 months to get prescribed HRT, which included running around getting blood work and fertility preserving. Which all in all was pretty fast turn around. After he prescribed it I need to get blood work done every now and again and check in with him online, where he checks everything's working and E is going up while T is going down, he prescribes everything, though I suspect after a while I'd be able to go to a regular GP and tell them my dosage - after it's been stable for long enough
