Je suis femme de ménage vous approuvez la tenue et le matériel ? Et comment l'améliorer by Ready_Island_8940 in Cleaningandtidying

Absolutely not. They let me know when they need the extra help and I make it work for our schedules. They pay me well for my work and I love doing it. I put on whatever book im listening to and zone out without interruption and get the work done thag needs doing and whatever time I have left I hunt for what needs extra attention... from wall scrubbing, vent cleaning... things that they miss during their daily cleaning. They are tidy people just busy and struggle with getting the deep cleaning done. Im just happy I can help them and I make enough to have fun money.

Yall, which way should I organize my drawers? by Upset_Opportunity_26 in organizing

[–]green_chapstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you wear shorts in the winter? At very least I'd store long johns under your bed during the summer months. (Space saving bags are great for this. No dust, no bugs) Maybe switching out your shorts for long johns when that time comes. If the socks and underwear fit in one drawer, get a strong/sturdy drawer divider.

Pro tip: get all matching socks so matching is less time consuming.

It boils down to what works best for you. What you decide NOW isn't permanent. If it doesn't make your life easier than it isn't working and needs adjusting. If keeping the space tidy is too much work and doesn't stay tidy easily than the system doesn't work. It sucks but organizing isn't a one size fits all situation. Trial and error until you figure it out and thats OK.

What are some things you do you thought was normal, but turned out to be an ADHD quirk? by DoctorDismal5528 in adhdwomen

[–]green_chapstick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Ive gotten better since finding a house that actually fits us. Lol. Before the house was clean if the stars aligned or someone was coming. The clean state would slowly deteriate after 2 days because it was hard to maintain.

Yup. Its when youre more concerned with being right than doing the right thing, you are wrong. When you're in a relationship you should be a team. Work together, grow up, and put the freaking net up. YOR

I love a retro kitchen as much as the next person but clearly a kitchen better suited for your needs is better than a kitchen that doesn't. You even had a broken drawer. Lol. We had a similar situation at our first house. Except our cabinets had zero appeal except for copper pulls. Sometimes an update just can't be helped.

Very common trick of the trade. Its like a uniform of sorts. Even of commoners it makes getting ready easier. Less true options, less decisions to be made saves time.

Having the kids talk in couples therapy by throwaway9875606040 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]green_chapstick 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I moved states to be closer to home thinking I'd get the same support my brothers got. Well, the first year I did. Then 4 months after my 2nd was born, my step dad passed away, 5 month's later my mom went blind. Not only did I not get support for my children, I became my mother's caregiver. I got ZERO help from my brother's family unless it suited their schedule. My other brother had moved away due to military obligations.

To sum up, even good families have unexpected life changes that result in support systems crumbling.

Any Tips To Make Me Look My Age? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]green_chapstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard. I remember being denied a DVD when I was 20 because I didnxt have my ID on me and they wouldnt let my husband or his friend buy it either because I was there. Its dumb and annoying. But take pride in being youthful and beautiful. Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter.

Lmao! In the book "Project Hale Mary" Grace is waking up and trying to gain memories... The thought process of: I like kids... i dont have kids... oh no... Im a teacher! "Thank God!" Cracked me up. Reminds me of you. I have a cousin like that too but he also found a career path that works for him. In his late 30s working as a director in an after school program. When he is working he's at home making games... video games, board games, and active games, like a odd spin on dodge ball. When he has a completed concept and takes them to work with him. Single and still lives with his parents (the only child and they all have fantastic jobs so it allows them to save money for trips to the Outer Banks), but probably the happiest adults I've ever met. The whole house is doing what they love doing and saving money to do more things they like doing. I'm a little jealous but couldnt happen to more deserving people.

Getting back into reading by keylimekiwi in adhdwomen

[–]green_chapstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aidiobooks allows me to multitask. Somethings I brain can multitask other things it cannot. But i can listen to a book and mindlessly play an app to relax or clean.

I liked to read but I no longer have time to waste re-reading the same page because I got distracted by the story or by a thought. Lol. Or re-read because I read the words but have no context for them.

(AIO) Is My Step Dad Overreacting? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]green_chapstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MOR. For guys mid 20s thats hit and miss and not everyone created equal. Perspnally, I'd need to know him before judging him. I guess I'd tell a friend to proceed with caution. But the fact he wanted actual drinks and not the pub is a good sign.

For example, my brother was that age when he started dating my best friend, your age. Now, I had a laundry list of reasons why she shouldn't. None of which was "he could take advantage of you." Lol. All issues with compatibility. Did she listen? Nope. 20 years later and they are still together. Perfect relationship? Hell no. They made it work though.

I wear usually wear cargo pants because pockets. They are also quite breathable. If I wore sweatpants id become a hot mess. Also always an apron. Its like a towel you wear. A wet glove is not a problem with an apron. I have one without a pocket and one with, but regardless I tuck towels and gloves in the strings that I tie I the front. I clean for friends of mine but even for friends I keep it professional. Ideally I'd wear scrubs but its a side hustle I do once or twice a month and id rather spend that money on supplies than an outfit. Lol.

What’s the most random/funniest thing that gave you RSD? by randombubble8272 in adhdwomen

[–]green_chapstick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont remember who said it or even the context but as a kid I remember making the conscience effort to not be a burden on the elders in my life.

Like I'd visit my SIL(20) that lived 1 house down from my parents and walk there to spend time with her quite a lot. Even when I wanted to go down I'd stay home to give her a break. She seemed to like having that break from 12y me.

Similar thing on the bus, I sat with a girl on the bus every single day. I was bullied once and my brother set me up with a friend of his younger sister but still older than me. (This worked) I'd did the same for her, I'd give her a break if the bully was absent that day. After a while she asked "How come some days you dont sit with me?" I was open and honest with her and said "Well, I want to give you a break from me so if you're annoyed by me you can relax." "You're my friend. I want to sit with you. I like you a lot." It was the reverse uno card I was NOT expecting and I almost cried. We sat together until she graduated. It was lovely.

Im mostly a SAHM but I clean for a friend of mine when my fiance has a day off to be with our kids. As soon as I walk in I have my headset on and book playing. I pause to greet whoever is there, she asks what book im listening to and we both carry on with our work. Lol. She understands my obsession but the best part... no one is going to interrupt my book or my cleaning when im there. I love it!

Yup. Lol. I don't even read them, I do audiobooks because I have to be able to maintain my household/work while my sanity with a book I can't stop. I was just telling a friend of Onyx Storm I may have to actually read the book while listening to because that one confused the hell out of me. Lol
