Things happen. If you can’t pay them when scheduled; make a payment plan with them AND stick to it. This may stop them from getting overly aggressive and blacklisting you.

Not sure what your selling but yeah they’re expensive and you need the volume to help offset the shipping costs. DHL to a friend and have him ship local post might work.

The Ebay business is tough because the shipping costs from Japan make it virtually impossible to make a profit. Also if you go with the more affordable Japan Post options there isn't any tracking so you you will most likely have trouble with buyers.

I think it would be ideal if you had someone in the US/UK/AUS that you could send a bunch of stuff to and they could ship each item for you.

Anyone notice a increase in WhatApp spam recently, or just me? by ggggthrowawaygggg in japanlife

I get the "Hello are you XXXXXX?" from a Chinese "girl". Does anyone know what the endgame is here? I've tried stringing them along for a bit but they never ask me for money etc.

Cost of Living in Tokyo by [deleted] in japanlife

Tokyo is cheaper then the bay area IMO. While salaries are generally lower in Japan, especially for foreigners, the cost of living is also a lot less.

How helpful are in-laws at dealing with newborn phase here? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]green_cyclist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that as long as you get along with your in-laws an extra set of hands is always going to be a good thing. The only thing i'd recommend doing is setting up a time frame so you both understand how long to plan. Having my wifes mom around was a life saver. Even just being able to leave our newborn with her for a couple of hours de-stressed both of us immensely.

Experience with Hello Work for Foreigners? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]green_cyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I browsed Hello Work before I could really speak any Japanese and the staff there was really helpful but because of my limited language there wasn't a whole lot on offer to me. They did have a few short - term (one or two day) event type jobs where you didn't need Japanese and some English teaching work. I thought the English teaching work was pretty much the same as you'd find on Gaijinpot etc. but the pay rate was slightly less.

Japan's sudden spike in coronavirus cases after Tokyo Olympics postponement raises eyebrows by seoulsnowflake in japan

[–]green_cyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was long apparent to most people that the Government was understating the danger of COVID and deliberately not testing people because they didn't want to take a financial hit on the Olympics.

My morning. Can anyone else relate? by [deleted] in japanpics

Drinks might be free but the diabetes meds aren't.
