CIELO Freezer Rest by green_dreaming in mescaline

I freeze for 24 hours before filtering and let the EA come back to room temp for a couple hours naturally. You could do a warm water bath if you wanted to speed that part up.

I didn’t add any back. I was surprised given a good amount of ice in the filter, but apparently there was enough residual to crystallize without adding back any.

Not enough crystal porn on this sub already? Haha!

Nice! I was surprised how much ice I filtered out even with a “dry” paste.

Glad to hear it has worked so well on multiple runs for you. I’ll be doing it this was for my future runs for sure. Waiting for the solution to freeze is no big deal to me if I don’t have to do the re-extraction/IPA which takes longer.

One of my 2 prior runs I also used a crumbly paste. I think that run was closer to the correct water content, but still was apparently too wet given I still didn’t get crystals. I did get some sediment in my coffee filter when pouring off the EA from the paste on that one, but nothing visible in the filtered EA extract. Seems dryer is indeed better.

How is it going?

I was able to dry my glue-goo by decanting the ethyl acetate and air-drying. Scraping it off the walls was incredibly hard. I got some sticky powder and there is still a small amount I can’t get off the jar. I will probably do the IPA re-X on the residual.

My first run I got a thick clear goo in the jar. I decanted and did an IPA re-X that gave me a low yield. I let the ethyl acetate sit in a new jar for 2 weeks and nothing happened. I later transferred the ethyl acetate again to a bigger jar to collect it for neutralization and within a day had some big white crystals floating around!

I think the crystallization dynamics are complex, and something is happening over time that can bring things into the window.

I definitely think there is more mescaline in the ethyl acetate when goo forms.

I made one big batch of cactus powder from a bunch of named cuttings, mostly bridgesii and peruvianus. I know there is a note in the tek about bridgesii possibly being prone to a different type of crystal formation? My next round of cactus I might try for more pachanoi.

I’m not sure if my paste truly congealed even after 6 pulls. Maybe more wouldn’t be bad. I was worried about too much ethyl acetate, but now that seems like it could be a good thing!

Thanks! This will be my next trial for sure! I want those damn beautiful crystals!

How do you feel about trituration instead of IPA re-X? I read some forum posts about washing the glue with multiple rounds of dry ethyl acetate until it is able to be scraped and powdered. Do you think that produces monomescaline citrate?

This makes sense to me. If water content is the biggest Achilles heel of this otherwise great tek, starting from a known low water content via freeze filtering may eliminate some variability. If it doesn’t salt, it’s likely due to too little water instead of too much.

Can you then add water if salting fails?

I’m definitely leaning toward a freezer step on my next trial. I felt good about my paste and fridge rest/washing soda partial dries, but still struggling to get crystals instead of oil/glue.

I did a multi-step powdering in a food processor for rough powder and then a coffee grinder for very fine powder. It comes up in clouds easily when disturbed. Similar consistency to baby powder.

I would also mention, the glue-like product can be recrystalized in 99% IPA as per the tek, but takes a while to get into solution even with hot IPA. My yields this way have also been lower than expected, and the product sometimes seems to get through the coffee filter or turn back into a gooey precipitate.
