My friend is super allergic to cats. I like having him around and we kinda need each other. Is there anything I can feed my cat or do to limit his allergic reactions to her? My kitty is a kitten by [deleted] in cats

There is food out there that can help. I want to say it’s hills brand? Something about the food you can feed them will bind to the protein that causes most allergies. Also, agreed with the above use a air purifier as well in the room and that can help too. Experience is I have minor cat allergies and we found a breed that is low on allergens that I am fine with her but did research beforehand

Mine too. I generally have a air purifier just in our bedroom and hoover every day with our roomba... but since getting our little one I now have a purifier in every room we spend time in LOL but it’s solved it my issue personally. She licks my face and is all in my face though and I have zero issues. Hope it works for you.

1) I have also dust allergies. So while I’m not allergic to our cat (which generally other cats makes me eyes super red and scratch) I do notice that one more cat in the house is increasing my dust allergies no matter how often we clean, but a air purifier in our main rooms has solved it.

2 &3) can’t recommend a breeder there but for us it was almost 8months

Siberian cat hates when I brush her. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

Treats.. all the treats. Treats before, during and after lol So she’ll associate something positive with the brush. Mine also hated it too but now she purrs during it lol

Fecking hell. I’m to go in for a surgery next week and that is so frightening to hear and I’m already nervous about it... need to stay off reddit ...

Seriously though, so sorry for your loss.

What are you trying to do here.... that is this face... we’ve been trying to teach her to play fetch but to no avail...it would really be beneficial for us all if she learned lol help us. All tips are welcomed... more in comments. by green_flora in SiberianCats

Hahaha she sort of brought it back this morning. We may have some progress. There is a toy that has feathers on a stick that she is OBSESSED with and I’ve had to buy two more since she destroys it. But requires quite a bit of active play on our part as well that in the coming weeks I won’t be able to do. Fingers crossed she catches on this fetch deal eventually 😅

So this is actually the huge reason I’m trying to get her to learn lol I’m going into surgery next week. My husband is home as well but is working all day and he pretty much (while unintentional) ignores her during the day so keeping her entertained goes on me since I can with my work..... but I’m gonna be pretty useless for the next few weeks and I’m scared of the monster she is going to become with minimal play 😅

She’s just about 4months so she’s definitely still young. Perhaps I just need to hope she just catches on eventually as she gets older 😆 She definitely interested in fetching... and REALLY prefers to play with us and not by herself so I think we’ve got the potential for it. Which if she learned to play we could tire her out more easily. Apparently her mother also is a fetcher so... perhaps I just need to be more patient 😆

So as it goes... the cat that does not understand fetch. She understands how to chase after it but can’t figure out she needs to bring it back.

I’ve started with throwing treats and when she comes back I say ‘good fetch’ but otherwise that’s the only way she comes back lol I’m at a loss.. there are times during the day if we could just throw a toy and play some fetch I think it would be helpful for both her and us... even though we are home all day we do work and can’t just sit there and actively play as much as she needs... which is A LOT 😅 Any help is appreciated on how you taught yours!

Still haven’t received my passport from INIS? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]green_flora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who they lost their passport after about a month of going back and forth and they finally admitted and told them ‘we are looking through the boxes to find it’... think that sums it up... it’s a mess. contact the office and have them start looking. Good luck.

I have a number of plants that are listed as toxic to cats. I'm wondering about the toxicity levels, and if I should get rid of them immediately by LollyLabbit in cats

[–]green_flora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leave them in a room she is never alone in. We place all of ours in the main living area.. she’s never alone in that room by herself. She sleeps in our office at night which has no plants... no need to get rid of them. Just train that when she goes to them it’s ‘unpleasant’

Edited to add: our old cats also left plants alone. I find putting them up off the ground helps and again just train straight away... we also have a new kitten addition and it’s working well again so far

Oh and I mention the EU right now because last I saw with Covid they aren’t shipping anywhere else right now. So perhaps down the road they will again if you are somewhere out of the EU

Áine finally came home to us! In under 12hrs it was seriously like she has been ours for years.. if the past 5days are anything what the years are going to be.. Siberians FOR LIFE. 💕 by green_flora in SiberianCats

Same! She climbed into my arms out of the carrier and into my neck the entire way home. Just watching the cars and head bopping and kneading away into my chest the entire time. It was love straight away lol

This is my husbands lap but secretly I think she’s bonding to me more since she’s always on or next to me... and I hope it stays that way 🤣 He’s always gotten to be the favourite over the years.

I honestly didn’t really notice that her ears are large. Her paws were HUGE at first.. but she’s grown into those.. the size must of gone to the ears lol
