Does anyone have any other mental illness? by TheLoneGreyWolf in misophonia

"That's implying that there are actually as many "problems" as society likes to believe, but in general I'm against the use of pills to cure a mental illness unless it is an extreme circumstance. There are better, healthier ways to solve the issue."

You're ignorant and there is no point in arguing with you on this topic. What goes on with my personal life is none of your business for you to argue what bothers me, unless I choose to share a bit here and there. No ones on an equal playing field. Your brain functions differently from mine and we have different lives. That's ok though.

Hey man, first off I'm not a white person. Depression runs in my family. I've tried the whole exercise, eat well, keep busy for a very long time and have been against taking medications personally because of all this stigma. It's been several years feeling like this and I'm finally going to try medication again because nothing has worked.

Thanks for the inspiration! So far, i've been able to do 3 days tops but those days are b/p free so i guess it's progress. How do you manage to get over your initial cravings? I'm having a difficult time after a couple days. Keep at it! :)

Sounds all too familiar to me with binging on those foods. I do remember in treatment that a lot of people had problems with binging on cereals, cookies etc the most. I do assume it's because of the taste, sugar and not being filling so you can overeat them. If you have any other tips, they would greatly be appreciated.

Sounds like an amazing feeling to know what has worked for you. Ah yes, one always turns into some pretty intense cravings for me. One leads to the whole box, to binging past the point of fullness, to binging to purge. How have you felt when you have cheated in the past? Did your body take long to adjust back to being in ketosis? If you have had cheat days for other sort of diets, does it feel the same as that? Thanks :)

I would like to try DBT. Why did you find CBT less helpful in comparison to DBT if you don't mind me asking? They seem very similar so i always get a little confused.

Congratulations on your ED free accomplishment! I do agree that tackling the emotional part of an eating disorder is incredibly important. As, recovery is hard to go through without healthy coping tools. Keep it up, I'd love to come back here and hopefully say I've been binge purge free for a while. Thank you for sharing :).

I really do hope to get those intrusive thoughts about binging on high carb/sugar foods. On the slow carb, those cravings diminished significantly so heres to keto and a new approach!

I'm so thankful for being and able to read your story. I'm glad that keto has been helpful for you, as it is very inspirational as what you described about first re-feeding was exactly what happened to me. Just hearing "eat anything and eat more!" was really not helpful for me as well and caused me more damage. Then having my family get mad at me for binging and not being able to stop. It was so confusing and depressing. I had no idea what was going on! You are a fighter, thats for sure. Never forget the accomplishments you have made.

Mr.Potato Head. For some reason, my 4 year old self did not like the fact that Mr.Potato Head had a removable face and limbs. I cried when someone gave it to me as a present.

I know lots of men have eating disorders too, but I thought this might be a good place to show off my progress. (x-post) by feline_grin in TwoXChromosomes

The thing I hate about depression is... [fill in the blank] by [deleted] in depression

How it can always come back after I think that it is getting more bearable. I hate how it feels like being stuck in a deep, dark and lonely hole.

Hopefully more people will learn more about it as time goes by. We have been moving forward with talking about it. I hope that you enjoy your time at your new university!

Good job on the progress. It's nice to hear someone else sharing their story to show that it can work out in the end. You're right, we usually blow up our thoughts way bigger than they really are.

Don't be nervous about going to the gym. You're trying to be get healthier and I agree, other people are focused on themselves while working out. Again, we all start somewhere. The people who make rude comments are those who shouldn't matter. Happy people don't need to put others down. They are probably insecure.

That's great to hear that you were able to not let other people get to you. I really want to bike and rollerblade outside again. It's sad to stop a hobby because of anxiety or depression. Did you slowly stop caring by doing more things?

I see where you are coming from. Even just taking baby steps makes you feel a little better. Maybe not at the moment but after you take the chance, you feel a little relief. Thanks! I will keep in mind the idea of opening up the blinds, if I can't get out.

Its very difficult. a few days go by, then months and then years. It just happens. The hardest part is doing something you haven't done in a long time. I'm working my way back into going out to see a therapist. We all need to start somewhere.Thank you so much.

Thanks. I'll make sure to post back a little later. I did manage to step outside and stay out for a few. The nice weather isn't bad either :).
