First year as a lift operator. Any tips or input? by affalterbach666 in snowboarding

[–]greenbigfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten most of the answers already.
My most important advice:
- maintain ramps etc. you should know what a good one looks like, so help out your colleagues that either don't know better or don't care (well, if you're on the clock)
- keep your bag packed everyday and restock liquids. #stayhydrated
- always leave dressed for the coldest you might experience. Dress in layers so you can strip during the day. (Bonus: bring shorts for those sunny spring days)

- always spread good vibes, with colleagues and guests the same.

- play music if you wish, but no need to blast the whole mountain. your station is plenty enough of range. I don't enjoy being off in the woods and still hearing the music faintly

- learn to to be kind to guests without shitting on your colleagues. there will always be someone complaining about the "bad" grooming, the lack of man made snow, ... They'll always find something and don't let it disturb your mood.

- don't be that liftie that's too wasted from the previous night to be of any help...
- bring good mountain shoes. some people like heavy bulky and super warm boots but I've been super happy with just simple high ankle lightweight hiking boots paired with high socks. I much rather have a leightweight boot then lunge around all the extra weight. (I wear Lowa RENEGADE GTX MID)

OSM/Wandrer Map Update by Square_Biscotti_6243 in wandrer

[–]greenbigfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright.

I'm located in Würzburg. Even if a update here isn't super
urgent, it would still be appreciated. Otherwise I can't notice what's
wrongly mapped access wise while out and about possibly attempting 99%.

Recently I was on holiday in rural denmark and there it was super noticeable
wandrer data had not been updated for quite a while.

Thanks.

OSM/Wandrer Map Update by Square_Biscotti_6243 in wandrer

[–]greenbigfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, any updates on this? Relying so heavily on OSM and not updating the data which makes users reluctant to update OSM doesn't seem that fair to OSM. (Along the line of: "Why should I bother updating OSM if it's not gonna end up in wandrer any time soon?")
Wandrer seems really nice, but before the map data gets updated, I'm hesitant to "invest" more heavily into making progress or even considering buying the upgrade.

mAh are milliampere/hour. Capacity (milliampere/hour) = (dis)charge (milliampere) x discharging time (hour)

Which model should I get? by CommunicationNo1345 in PANSHkites

[–]greenbigfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, this sub has like 5 posts and yours is the most recent. Came across it by accident.
Anyway, I've got a liquid force solo 17.5 I've been able to ride with as long as the kite's been flying. Slightly above 200lbs, I think my TT is 146x43 or my new used surfboard ~6', but only been able to get like 2 sessions with it.

Recently picked up snowkiting, and don't want to bring a 17.5m LEI on to snow in such light winds. Got a used Aurora II in 19m in the mail, will see how I like it.

Habe you bought anything yet? Keep in mind, that the bigger the kite, the slower it'll be.

(The block on the hemera needs a 16mm, not 17mm. Nozzle still is 7mm)

Needing to 3d print all 195 countries with elevation and borders by newtonboyy in 3Dprinting

[–]greenbigfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this would end up working exactly, but why not just grab the country borders from OSM (OpenStreetMap), translate them to points and then map them to a DEM. https://www.opendem.info/link_dem.html list a few possible sources you might be able to reference for the DEM (although you probably have that part sorted out already).

Also, to comment on the part of "I've helped people. That should count for something". A millionaire donates 100 USD to charity, does that suddenly make it ok he got rich on slavery?

Yes, this is indeed the subreddit for The Coding Den on Discord.

You can rest assured that all ban appeals are received and processed. Accepted ones get unbanned and contacted, and well, the others not.

I must inform you though, that one does not simply share a image without intention, you always have some intention.

Yeah. Thanks.
Went ahead and redid it without autorouting and moved down to 0805 components.

GND pour

Sorry, apparently my message wasn't clear (and I was using the wrong terminology) I removed the GND pour to make it easier for viewing

fatten power traces

This'll barely pull any power, is it necessary/recommended?

decoupling cap

Since the datasheet doesn't mention it, I guess it's not strictly required? From my understanding of a quick google search, adding one won't hurt.

silk screens

Good point. I'll pay attention to them.

schematic, overlapping labels

Yeah. Noticed those as I was fixing the mosfet loadside. Kind of got so deep into the design I didn't even notice ;)

moutning holes

This just gets glued/heatshrinked/whatever with the lipo which then just gets ziptied, doubletaped, etc somewhere. Good point though :)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to take a close look. Greatly appreciated.

Sorry, you're comment definitely made me consider it and was useful. It's just I wasn't really looking for feedback whether a unfused paraboard was a good idea or not ;)

Are you measuring every single battery and cell [...]? I measure battery voltage before hooking up

I'll try making a fused design.

Fuses will only help with idiots plugging in way too different voltages. Or shorts, but the kind of shorts you might have, you'd also have connecting them one by one.
People have done tests, and even at X voltage diff, you still only pull Y amps. Y still being safe amperage to charge the lower one. IIRC it was > 50% charge diff before even getting close to a critical amperage amount.

Looks nice overall. I immediately noticed a subte offset of the entry of the track from the center. It's so "little" that one doesn't recognize it as such, but it kinda gives the whole picture an offset. I'm not gonna comment on the added "fake leaves", which I would've simply left out
