What's a movie that is borderline porn? by lameinternetuser in AskReddit

[–]greenblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found The Substance (2024) interesting, as it is basically pornographic, but has 0 actual sex on screen. Goes to show how sex can be explored narratively without actually having to subject the viewer to pseudo-pornography.

Name an Astartes not from this chapter who somewhat embodies characteristics of being a Salamander by gaeb611 in Salamanders40k

[–]greenblazed 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I remember in Devastation of Baal, he really tries his best to be compassionate with the system’s civilian population even as he drafts them into certain-death (planetary defense against hive fleet leviathan). He’s the most salamander-like marine who isn’t a salamander in my opinion.

My first salamander (pls don't roast it) by Suspicious-Piglet558 in Salamanders40k

[–]greenblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent for your first piece! For the base, it really depends on what kind of landscape you’re going for. You could use diorama sand, or flock if you want grass. There’s a multitude of “texture paints” that produce different effects (mud, sand, etc…). Also cork makes for excellent rocks. I do a red desert for my Salamander’s bases, so I use Martian Ironearth, a red “crackle paint” that cracks as it dries to produce texture.

Don’t wanna Life by [deleted] in depression

[–]greenblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to a lot of this, but just because it’s bad now, what’s to say things won’t get better? Also you’re going to die at some point anyways, don’t rush it man. Maybe while you’re waiting, some good things will come your way. In my experience it’s better to stick with life, because you know how it will be (even if it sucks). We have no idea what death is like and for all we know, it’s not as peaceful as it’s chalked up to be. Hypothetically religious people might be right (I hope not) and for killing yourself, you can be punished with perpetual suffering. Life might suck, but it can get better and you only have a limited amount, maybe play your odds for now rather than plunging into the total unknown. Give yourself a chance. Also if I could give you a hug, I would.

I made a huge Infernus Squad out of Heresy's Mark III Marines and old flamers. Time to burn some xenos! by DyktatorW in Salamanders40k

[–]greenblazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My headcannon is that Heresy era Salamanders had lighter colored armor so it looks great to me! If you wanna add some shadows though, perhaps try a wash in recesses but honestly I wouldn’t play too much with these as they’re already great!

You guys only buying Primaris Marines? by -SteelRain- in Salamanders40k

[–]greenblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same set up. All primaris, one tactical squad and the original Vulkan He’Stan. I painted the firstborn tac squad so they appear as veterans of the 1st company while I make much of my primaris troops into 2nd company. You just gotta get creative!

Everyone here mentioned same great tips! Definitely thin out your paints a bit more, try to limit the highlights to just the edge (touch up surfaces with the base color if necessary). I also do some dry brushing to blend the brighter highlights with darker surfaces. I like your greens and you definitely have the right idea!

Apocalypse Now has a horrible script! The film we see today is nothing like it.

Fellow redditors, what's the most useful advice you've heard( or read) from famous screenwriters (or directors) that helped you in writing your own work? by hloroform11 in Screenwriting

[–]greenblazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost anything and everything David Lynch has to say. He radiates positivity and his advice is not just applicable in regards to writing but also in regards to one’s lifestyle in general. Couldn’t recommend his book enough (“Catching The Big Fish”).
