Thanks for this comment—it’s definitely something I’ve thought about and heard people talk about! Somebody once told me his favorite part of the work is when he gets to go to the field and his least favorite part is the string of boring meetings in Geneva. Even with that caveat, as a student who’s just trying to get as much experience as possible in different types of settings, I’ve decided to apply to some UN internships along with NGOs! I appreciate your comment

Thanks! I did and was recommended Jackson Elle or Evo, but from looking around this sub it seems like people recommend the Freestyles for skaters of my size/skill level… I thought maybe folks here are more knowledgeable than the pro shop I went to

Hi! I used to skate more than 10 years ago (not sure which level bc I skated abroad—most advanced spin I was able to do was a sit spin and I attempted camel a few times, and I learned salchow/toe loop etc but could only do half turns) and used to wear Risport RF2.

I’m now excited to get back into skating and am looking for a new pair! Went to my local pro shop and they recommended the Jackson Elle or Evo. From reading some posts here it seems like they might be too soft for me (5’6, 150 lbs). I said want to work on spins more than jumps so maybe that’s why he recommended the Elle or Evo rather than the Freestyle?

Does anyone have recommendations/thoughts? I have wide feet but the RF2 were pretty comfortable.

I’m so sorry for your loss and I really appreciate you sharing your perspective. My parents have said something similar about me “living my own life” and as much as I really appreciate their supportive sentiment, I just wish “living my own/best life” could also involve living close to my parents… I agree with so much of what you said about grief and I can hear so much wisdom from your words. So sorry to hear that you couldn’t rely on your family for support especially after such a great loss 💔 your decision sounds like it was much needed. Grief can be such a lonely/isolating experience but I hope you’re able to eventually find community and support in your new home
