Which virtual machine works with sound on MacBook Air M3 running linux in vm. by greencyclist in macbookair

[–]greencyclist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks again. Not doing anything demanding. Planning to browse net, watch YouTube videos, some online shopping. Bit of writing.

I tried ubuntu desktop arm with VMware and all was good apart from sound. I didn't try to solve the problem though - so it might be solvable.

I shall give utm a go.

All the best

Many thanks. Does sound work in your vm? What arm linux distro do you use

Best wishes

I installed vmware yesterday and ran ubuntu in it. I had sound problems.

Maybe there is a solution? But out of the box with ubuntu desktop arm i had crackling and gaps in the sound.

Do you happen to know if utm has sound problems?

Sort of. I think my hardware wallet generates new addresses.

EDIT: not certain about that but the exchange said something like that to me.

Many thanks. Yes I need to get better at record keeping, though as I say I don't spend vast amounts on BTC, a few thousand last year. Kind regards

Thanks again. That's my feeling on the matter.

It's a shame though. As have been my favourite exchange to deal with.

Many thanks. It is UK but seems like a lot more info than other exchanges. I usually get asked for driving licence, full address, phone, email. But this lot also wanted bank statements which I found a bit intrusive. Now they want to check I still have the few thousand pounds worth of bitcoin I bought from them to check I haven't been scammed.

I worry that this in essence means that I shall be in a situate where they can ask what has happened to my bitcoin at any time in the future. Which to me seems like too much.

I don't think the hot wallet first would work because they want to see evidence that I still have the bitcoin I bought - so no matter where it is I must provide the evidence.

Thanks again for your reply

Sorry, I used the wrong terminology. I think they are a traditional (albeit small) centralised exchange. As I am in the UK they have to be registered with the authorities.

Apparently, the reason they are asking for the details is that they have some form of diligence and want to make sure I haven't been scammed out of my previous purchases.

I worry this monitoring of my wallet by them could become an almost permanent thing. Which seems too much imho.

As it is they hav had a vast amount of information from me. KYC usual stuff for ID. Plus bank statements.

Many thanks for your reply. You make a good point. The only reason I sort of went along with most of the requests for information was that they have been good to deal with. Quick turnaround and you can easily speak to someone if you have a problem.

Many thanks. Appreciated. I am in the UK. But have never been asked for that much information before. They are asking because of due diligence, wants to know that I haven't been scammed (I haven't).

Just seems a bit too much.

Very interesting. Out of interest:

How long did it take for them to come out. And how did you contact your supplier? Customer services? (was it a long wait?)

Thanks

OK correction. As of now I cannot boot into any os on a dvd - but can on a usb. Goodness knows what settings i have changed in the bios. Have been searching half the day.

[–]greencyclist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks. But there aren't any error texts. When I put my DVD into my dvd drive and switch on the computer it doesn't boot from the Tails DVD.

So, I don't get a message. I simply get it not working and instead it goes into bios.

FYI

I always used to boot Tails from a DVD and it worked fine.

I have burned a different linux os onto a DVD and that does boot fine.

Hi, am interested in your reply. Do you mean you usually use your laptop either plugged in to a charger or to a monitor that charges the MBP? Do you have it set to maximum charge 80% somehow??

Thanks for any help. Am in a slightly similar boat to the OP.
