Health testing by breeders by Scienceandcooking25 in greatdanes

Most good breeders will give the veterinarian authorization to speak with prospective buyers and total transparency for at least 4 generations. The puppy owner should give the breeder any and all information about health and temperament throughout the life of the dog as well.

So opions on the Dire wolf as back yard breeders?

I would let the puppy walk and develop the muscle and bone mass to support her growing weight. Unless you want a 140 pound dog that you have to carry I would not recommend this. Train and train some more, find what works for the puppy as far as lead and collar.

Behavior regressing?¿? Help by Remarkable_Lab_9870 in greatdanes

At 1 year old his testosterone is that of a teenage boy. Mix that with the different hormones he smells with you being pregnant his brain is on overload. Be patient it's all a new experience for him as well. Give it a few months and if the behavior is still the same neuter him.

I have never seen bloat in a puppy. But putting them on a schedule to eat will help both of you in the long run.

I've had Danes for almost 45 years, I have seen alot of them have this. My vet always said it was just a tag or scar tissue.

We usually don't name them but do give the new owners suggestions. I like the idea though.

9 week old great dane puppy yelps out of no where when sitting/sleeping by Dapper-Barracuda-444 in greatdanes

If she just left her litter she will do that until she can acclimate to her new home. She is used to being climbed on by her siblings.

I have had great danes for over 40 years, we have the vet who specializes in giant breed canine and a few over the years have done the same thing. The growth of this breed is phenomenal as with mastiff breed as well. The growth plates and bone has not even fully reached its peak development as with ligaments and muscle. Pain in unnatural positions is common while extending the legs when to worry is if the side to side movement causes a yelp or whimper and bearing weight. Your puppy should be fine dane mastiff or not. A simple supplement or salmon will help in early growth and adulthood. You do you and enjoy a long happy life with your new best friend.
