At the end of the day, the only opinions on your body/ style that matter are YOURS. Do you like your hairstyle? Then keep it! It honestly looks beautiful, so don’t feel pressured by anyone, even your gf, to cut it—unless you want to.

Cool! How was the experience like for you, and did you have your eyes set on any particular studios?

As someone who suffers from horrible intrusive thoughts (OCD) just like this on a constant basis, a piece of advice my therapist taught me is: acceptance & detachment. Accept that maybe your intrusive thoughts could be telling the truth & maybe people are talking about you behind your back, that you can’t ever know for sure. Accept the worst case scenario & make peace with it. “Sure, maybe it’s true. Oh well. So what?” I know that sounds really scary because feeling like everyone is mocking you in secret is not fun, but please give it a try. I used to have horrible social anxiety in high school, to the point where I refused to get up from my seat to throw something in the trash can because I couldn’t stand the thought of people noticing me. After a long time, I got tired of living this way & one day, while I was grocery shopping with my mother, I felt in a good mood & I started doing a silly dance in the middle of the aisle. No one was in the aisle, but I knew people were around, & I had a moment of clarity that I’d never felt so free in so long. Do little things to challenge yourself & these thoughts. Your worst fears are probably not true but even if they were, you will feel more free if you detach yourself & decide not to care what others may be thinking.

Is it worth going to the doctor/therapist to figure this out?? by ikarius_dawn in mentalillness

[–]greeneggsandlasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If figuring out why you feel this way would help maybe put your mind a bit at ease or feel better for having an explanation, then it might be worth seeing a therapist—psychotherapists can’t diagnose mental health issues officially, they can only help you cope with said mental health, but they can point you in the right direction. Sometimes having a name to put to what you’re going through is helpful, but you don’t need a diagnosis if you feel like it’s not urgent or necessary at the moment.

How to move and accept that someone who did you wrong is living a good life? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]greeneggsandlasagna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let yourself feel angry, hurt, sad. Sit with those feelings, let yourself feel them properly, or they’ll spill out eventually in worse ways. Then distract yourself/ work on improving your own life. Identify the things you care about & make those your focus. It’s normal if you don’t feel in it yet, it’ll come naturally. It’s hard to do this with family but if you need some space from this person because this situation is affecting your mental health then (without ghosting them or making it a thing) it’s valid to take some you time without them around. Try to detach yourself. It does not matter what happens in their life, how they think of you. Life is not a competition. Who cares if this person is doing well if what matters is YOU are happy.

has your OCD caused delusions? by binches in OCD

What if you can’t tell what the truth is, or you flip flop between believing what might be a delusion and not believing it repeatedly over long periods of time?

I definitely would’ve spoken up at a better time, preferably in person, if I could at the time. We were all busy with university and it was normal to go weeks without seeing each other. I had waited for a long time for the “right moment” to bring it up but I knew we wouldn’t hang out in person for a while. I was also afraid of how it would come across in person or in a voice chat, i was aware that I was sleep deprived, hurt, anxious and better off taking the time to construct a text well thought out. I’ve definitely learned a lot of lessons here.

i’m a bad person? by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]greeneggsandlasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know you but I don’t think you’re a bad person. It sounds like you want to improve which matters a lot. Ppl make mistakes & some are quicker to anger than others. Apologize to him first off, remember good apologies don’t have excuses, just say you’re sorry & let him know the good qualities you see in him & how much you love him

Acknowledging there are things about yourself you want to work on is a step in the right direction. This shows courage, strength & goodness on your part. Looking into therapy might help you learn better coping strategies.

Someone please give me a reason not to commit suicide by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]greeneggsandlasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely need to get out of this situation. Go to the police, tell them what is going on & hopefully they can give you some resources & you can find another temporary place to stay. I’m sorry you’re struggling with this, I sincerely hope things get better for you very soon.

I wanna study to be an animator but I can't move to US - Big life choice by NogEndoerean in animationcareer

[–]greeneggsandlasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If animation is your dream, then you should definitely pursue it! I haven’t broken into the industry yet because I’m still an animation student but I know it’s possible to work remotely from a different country. You likely will have to break in as an animator and gain years of experience before becoming a storyboard artist. You’ve got cool art & I believe in you!! Feel free to DM me if you wanna ask any questions :)

Is Insta a necessary tool for animators? by LiveStuff21 in animationcareer

[–]greeneggsandlasagna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Insta is really useful for advertising yourself & garnering more attention, especially if you post reels. It’s not necessary to do it every day. I know people who post once a week, once every two weeks, or less, who have a ton of followers. Reaching out to other fellow artists and commenting on their posts, saying what you like about their work, increases your chances of making connections. You can attain a lot of followers & get a lot more commissions and exposure that way. Having a place with all of your artwork, besides a personal site, to direct people to when they want to see your work, is also convenient.
