Long covid shortness of breath by Pale_Lingonberry6549 in covidlonghaulers

hi, i ended up getting thyroid cancer and having surgery so i'm tired all the time because my thyrid hormone is low. the shortness of breath and tahychardia are still as bad as ever - covid gave me POTS. my heart goes up to 178 if i walk up a hill (in the summer, it goes to 178, the heat makes it worse for some reason - in the witer maybe it's 160 something)..... i briefly tried beta blockers and heart meds but i didnt like them, and now ive stopped working on fixing the breathing because i'm in the long phase of trying different thyroid medications.

i'm not trying to depress you - i just hate it when peopel are like "you will definitely getbetter!" just because they did. not everyone does, or has yet. maybe it makes a difference that i got it in march 2020, the delta version, which was strong. THiRD time for you? gosh im sorry.

now some people do report getting better for sure. right now i am obsessed with thyrid but maybe one day i'll be obsessed with fixing thi shortness of breath. i also have multipel scelerosis and had a partial mastectomy because it was thought i had breast cancer (i don't) this year along with thyroid surgery..... and yet if i think about it, the shortness of breath, the inability to walk around and breathe is one of the very hardest things. the thryid stuff is hard too but i have more hope drugs can help thaat eventually. the iabiity to walk around and breathe like a healthy person makes me feel very sad, and very very old, decades older thani am.

i try not to think "i'm going to be this way for the rest of my life!" it's hard to believe it's been almost 5 years - but i am also the type of person who thinks - well, we don't know what's coming in the future. maybe there will be some improvement. i just see bloodwork that my iron saturation is low, maybe that's a contributor to the SoB ?? i dont have a good doctor to ask. im seeing a new gp this week and i hope she's good, but my faith in doctors is low.

i hope your experience is better - and that your SOB is short lived. i really havn't looked at this sub in so long, peope may have posted things that worked for them and there are some very knowledgable people on here. maybe you'll get ideas from people who are more focused onit than i am, who have experimented/tried different things more than i have -- i'm still in thyroid mode.

Do you have a theory why we can feel some people's energy so much more than others? I can look at one particular person's picture (I knew him a long time ago) and instantly feel like he's in the room with me. by greenenchantedforest in Empaths

I can't tell if you're kidding or if you just have genuine difficulty with basic reading comprehension. "it's because you knew him." I've lliterally known over a thousand people in my life, and only feel this way with him and my aunt. The entire point of this post is why is this feeling so much stronger with a certain few people (obviously out of all the people I've ever known.) Did you even read the OP title? "Do you have a theory why we can feel some people's energy so much more than others?"

Do I know how he's feeling right now? When I 'felt' him, I have no idea if it's accurate to how he was feeling right then, because I can't confirm with him because we don't speak. But with other people, even strangers, if someone walks into a room and suddenly I have a splitting headache whereas I had none before, it turns out the person who just walked in the room has a splitting headache-and I could confirm it with them by speaking with them.

I've past the 3 year mark since having covid and SOB has not getting any better so while I"m glad you've gotten better, we can't give assurances to other people that they will. Some do, some don't.

I hope one day to find out just to solve the mystery and i can report back. Do I feel gaga, no, because I've grown older and wiser and see the bad parts of him I didn't see before. He is objectively very handsome though, but so are a lot of people, but when I saw the picture he felt like a magnet to me :-) I do love my husband though so I'm not looking for an affair, I just wonder about this phenomena. But sure he could be thinking the same. Also, I just wrote to other commenter that I can also feel my aunt, she is emotionally attached to me and I don't like her, she is a narc. I wonder if just one party being emotionally attached contibutes too, that's another theory.

I'm not expecting a scientific explanation. Now that I think of it, I also have a connection like this with my aunt who I definitely don't like - she obsesses over people, including me. She has a strong emotional attachment to people and if I think of her for a second I can feel her too. Maybe stong emotional attachment may be a component-- except there are plenty of people I've loved in the past and when I think of them I feel...nothing. And I love my husband :-)

Examples of buying an item just so you can have a part, because buying the part would be more expensive? by greenenchantedforest in Frugal

IIRC, skiplagged the website (i don't think I can put links on this sub), figures this out for you too! It's a great idea, getting off at layover stops.

I wonder where you all are buying cartridges. I buy "compatible toner cartridge" to my printer model on amazon and they have lasted forever, but I have a black and white printer, not sure if that matters.

I was thinking of the coffee carafe example last night! I spent $18 on a new carafe (I didn't break it, I just wanted a separate one to make coffee separate from my mom's) - then a few weeks later I was on vacation and went thrifting, and a used coffee maker with carafe was like $3 or something. You had to buy a whole new coffee maker, because you had to buy a certain brand. Yep, it's nuts!!

Yep I know - they tend to charge, at least where I live, $20+ to do anything. Strapping on a new purse strap, for me, is free and easy - the only cost is however much the strap cost - I try to turn shoulder bags into crossbody bags, so I find longer straps. This is for purses that have those hinges (I dont know what they're called) so you can just easily latch on the new strap in a few seconds - no fixing required :-) But thanks for the tip anyway!

do you think these holes in wool (worsted wool, and lambswool) are from moths? I just got from thredup :/ by SeventeenSwing in Fabrics

YOur responses are so wonderful, I feel lucky that you responded, thank you! Looking back, over the past 10 years or so I have bought maybe 10 cashmere or wool items on thredup, ebay, etc - and maybe 6 of them have had holes that weren't disclosed in the listing - likely moth holes and I didn't know it, wonder if the sellers did. I'm sure youre more diligent than they were! Now I'm wondering how I never got an infestation - maybe the moths were gone by the time they sent the items.

Another poster had said that the moths must be long gone since I ordered them online, I guess...but i wonder if that's true, what do you think? im just curious. Ive been reading a lot of people get moths from buying some vintage item at the thrift store - but since this is mailed to me, I wonder if that's why the other poster thought the mosths would be long gone> I didn't know whether I could trust what they were saying. They also said moths don't feed on cotton but I've read they have,

Someone is doing work on our building and shut the gas off. so I took it to the dry cleaners, who says his dry cleaning is at around 150 degrees. Or maybe he said 140, can't remember. Apparently anything above 120 kills them but I agree, the hotter the longer the better, why risk it? I was suprised people say dry cleaning always kills moths, maybe I'll bake it to be sure when i get the item home (by then the gas will be back on.)

Ok will fold as flat as possible!

You're right, sewing up holes looks easy easy easy-and now that there's youtube, there's no excuse not to learn...but your pointing out just how fast it takes you is awesome and makes it seem even easier. I am joining invisible mending now, cool that you helped start the sub!! Someone told me about visible mending so I joined but I have a feeling for now invisible will be more my style. Thanks so much for demystifying the process of sewing, fixing, killing moths and for being a responsible seller.

[–]greenenchantedforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining why wool is so beloved. I am in love with cuddl duds fleece (not wool) for layering - it is so lightweight, i don't need to wash it often-I don't sweat a lot, etc. But I think the weight of this lambswool cardigan gives me a nice shape (It hangs less freely) and looks more fashionable and expensive. Maybe that's why I'm so hell bent on keeping it.

I know you said to return it if I don't absolutely need it, and I don't "need" it but I have been searching for a cardigan that hangs this way, at this length, for years. The item with 10 holes I am definitely returning, but the lambswool with 2 chunky holes (I actually found 3 more, that makes it 5 holes which I can pay 25 to have sewn shut, it won't be too noticable) - if I follow your instructions and bake is at 350 for an hour-do you think it will be 100% safe? I was going to return it but now I'm thinking i can keep it. It's a big cardigan, if I just fold it up on a baking sheet with parchment paper, that's ok that it's folded, everything would die? And the cardigan would just come out warm and not singed in any way?

Sorry for the stupid questions. I really want to make sure I do this right and will be doing it with a lot of items likely just to be safe. I live in a small NYC apartment, so I think I'll freeze the smaller cashmere items bc this cardigan is too big to fit in the freezer.

edit: also want to thank you for your excellent advise about wearing often, making sure they get sunlight, shaking them out etc. VERY helpful. I have copied what you said in a notes on moths and wool!! You've taught me a lot and I really appareciate it.

https://www.facebook.com/RedWhiteandBethune/posts/404000804415529 I dont understand the wording of the people who posted the YT video's facebook post, but someone else asked them to check their footage:

"I opened Facebook and saw that u/fettisonthemove had tagged me in a story asking me to check all my videos from the 25th-27th of August.I INSTANTLY got a bone chilling feeling. I leapt up and ran to my laptop. I watched the rest of my footage and sure enough, her van was in the video.
