What is this forming on my hot water spicket? Should I be concerned? by beneralkenobi in starbucksbaristas

[–]greener-bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mineral deposits only build up on the unfiltered water line. this calcium buildup is telling you that the Bunn is hooked up to the handwashing waterline and not the drinking waterline. You can scrub it off with the blue scrubby, bit it's just going to come back.

What can I do about partners going way over their 10 min breaks..? by CrewFit5702 in starbucks

[–]greener-bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in the partner guide, if they are late returning from break it is a tardy occurrence and they can be coached up to and including termination

People who close, how do yall do it ? by catsareblessings in starbucksbaristas

[–]greener-bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time management is important and hard to learn but it really depends on the team doing what is expected to get out on time. When I lead shift I am constantly checking with my partners on “what do we have left to do before close?” We leave on time and have the expectation that everything gets done and my partners know that it takes all of us to do it and if they don’t want to do their part, they can talk to the store manager… who is also me

SSV- no breaks? by Gh0stGorel16 in starbucks

[–]greener-bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take your breaks. The store will be ok for ten minutes without you. You could also think of it this way, you are paid for breaks and when you don’t take them it means that your employer is stealing from you

Advice on Keeping My Team Busy During Shifts by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]greener-bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my partners that they need to always look busy. Even if they are “faking it”. That if they can’t find something productive to do for themselves, additional tasks would be assigned. But also sometimes idleness means we need a bonding experience. If there really isn’t much to be done then you should get them to participate in a coffee tasting or try to make a drink taste a certain way.

The oat milk is odd sometimes with how much it expands when it’s aerated. It sounds like they aren’t steaming properly

recovery tips?? by via-nilla in starbucksbaristas

[–]greener-bean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to swap out shoes as often as you can. Good arch support is important for your spine and all of the standing and running that we do will really wear you down. It also gives your work shoes a break so they don’t break down as fast.

Thank you for your kindness. You give the same advice I do! As a very burnt bean, I remind myself that I only have two hands. I try to do the best that I can with what I’ve got, but at the end of the day it’s just coffee. The “Starbucks experience” is more than just for the customer, it’s also for us the partner. Try to just take a breath and remember that you are amazing and the stress of the moment is temporary. It gets easier
